He was finally ready to face New York at all it was. After years of barely keeping jobs, living paycheck to paycheck, he scored a spot at a flourishing and riveting company- Spaced Tech.

The company itself isn't old, but the creators were skilled from different bases and established it over 25 years ago. However, it only became booming in the past few years.

At age 27, he felt like his life had been nothing but unfair. From his lack of college success, he heavily relied on his charm to get him farther in life. And of course, the ended tries of his parents.

He felt that only in the past few years did he finally start to understand the hard work that he had to put in to truly get what he wanted. Clayton Reid was ready to face whatever it was that stood behind the doors to the company's entrance.

12 floors up and he was there. Spaced Tech's New York office of management. He would usually be working on the 11th floor, but for today he had a meeting with the COO, the Chief Operating Officer.

He had his badge ready but was more nervous than usual. Perhaps this is the first time where an opportunity like this had to be worked for and he could not let this job slip through his fingertips like he did in the past.

As he walked into the 12th floor lobby, a women greeted him. She was of short stature, heavy weight, and carried the kindest smile. Odd for such a serious workplace. She wore a lovely pink blouse and typed away diligently on her computer.

Clayton walked up to the women and greeted her back.

"Hello! My name is Susan how may I help ya?" She had a slight New Jersey accent and her smile crinkled in her cheeks as she spoke.

"My name is Clayton Reid. I am supposed to have a meeting with the COO and get myself settled in today if I am correct." He spoke confidently, his spine straight and his eyes gleamed.

"Ooh yes, yes! Why Mr. Reid, lovely to have ya!" She typed swiftly on her computer as she spoke. "Oh, okey, okey. Looks like your meeting is in half an hour. Why don't ya go and get yourself a cup of coffee from the kitchen over there and then walk over to office 1209B. Jack, the COO's assistant will greet ya there." She said pointing over to the kitchen and then to a big door in the back of the office. She smiled at him with a soft smile before harshly going back to her computer and typing away.

He gave her a thankful nod and walked over to the kitchen. The office was busy, at 8:30am everyone looked awake and bushy tailed. Typing away, drinking coffee, conversing on projects. He guessed that he wouldn't get away with being late to work much according to this atmosphere.

He set his work bag down and reached over to reusable coffee cups in the corner. Grabbing it he suddenly got a chill down his spine. How unusual. He was never nervous, his entire life has been him going with whatever his parents told him.

He blanked out and stared above the coffee pot.

"Excuse me, you're in my way." A familiar female's voice rang into his ear. He couldn't put his tongue on where he heard such a distinct tone before. A slight European accent, a bit deeper but still feminine.

As he turned around he couldn't believe his eyes. Now he knew where this familiarity came from.

Before him stood a woman with platinum blonde hair dressed in all black formal attire.

As the woman saw his face, she tensed. Her light smile shifted to a blank expression.

"Oh, wow. Reid is it? Clayton Reid. Didn't think I would see you around here, or anywhere for that matter." The woman spoke as she slowly began to pour pure black coffee into her cup with a small dismaying grin on her face.

"Lottie?" He responded, confused and shocked. He couldn't even hide his expression as well as her.

"Charlotte, or better yet Ms. Gloss, I believe is more appropriate. Especially for a work place environment, Mr. Reid." She took in a reserved breath as she let this situation settle into her head.

As the man finally composed himself from the original shock, he took on a smug expression.

"What are you the intern or something?" He cockily asked her as he leaned on the side of the counter with his arm.

He attempted to sip from his cup. His expression tensed slightly as he realized that he never put cream and sugar in his coffee, the taste of black coffee was not for his tastebuds to handle.

Charlotte gave a faded chuckle. "Something of that sort." She remarked under her breath.

As the man let out a small cough to get the disgusting taste of coffee from his mouth, he continued with his sly remarks.

"Well then, I am sure I wont see you around often. I am only in this section to prep for a meeting anyways." He spoke as he attempted to maintain a smug grin without being too obvious about his poor coffee choices.

"Ah, Im sure youre right. Well then, I wont see you around either." She flashed him a closed smile and turned around.

Right as Clayton's expression turned to disgust after his coffee mishap, the woman looked back for a short second.

"Both the coffee creamer and sugar are in the right cupboard by the way, just saying." The woman waved off with her right hand and then finally walked away leaving Clayton Reid speechless with only one question on his mind.

What the hell is she doing here?
