5:30 pm
I woke up from the mysterious dream I had. Now that I'm thinking about it the lady seemed very familiar to me. She reminded me of my mother in the way her face was shaped, the waviness of her hair, and the way her physique was shaped. She was gentle and kind, just like my mom. Speaking of my mother, she wasn't home meaning I could do what I want. I got up from my bed and walked to the bathroom, turned on the sink washed my face, and walk back out of the bathroom and check the clock on my dresser. It was four o'clock, I had time to do whatever I wanted until dinner time. I did sleep longer than I expected to but that's okay.
I walked downstairs and went to the basement, a drawer that held my drawing supplies was against the wall. I walked up to it and grabbed my sketchbook, a pencil, a pen, and a highlighter. I was planning on making it somewhat vibrant, but while I was in the process of grabbing the items my vision goes black.
--------------------------------------
I woke up in my backyard as any average person would but something was different. Everything was bigger. I had no control over my body, I can only see my reflection in the puddles on the ground. It was me, but I was a four-year-old. My dark brown hair flowed as the wind picked up " CLOVER! ", I heard a small voice yell. My body began to move towards the back door, and I eventually see my mother standing at the door with a little girl with shoulder-length hair, and dark chocolate eyes. She looked like me, from the chubby cheeks and a button nose to my posture. She seemed so familiar, that it was almost nauseating. My body walked into the house stiffly and tensed, even more, when the little girl hugged me.
"You are freezing", the little girl continued "go change your clothes, before you get sick.", my mouth began to move. I could not hear a single thing leaving my mouth, my body began to move all the way up the stairs to my room. I shut my door and changed. I walked down the stair, inaudible words flying from my mouth. I walked over to the little girl sitting in the living room, on the floor with a glowing, pocket watch in her hands staring at it intently. "It looks so old and creepy," she uttered as she stared at it. My mouth flew open saying a couple of words before closing. She looked up from the pocket with eyes filled with wonder. She began talking, but her voice started to fade away. Eventually, so did the world.

6:00 pm
I woke up lying on the floor, the drawers were open, and there were drawing supplies sprawled out on the floor. Another thing that came to my attention was the fact that I could taste vomit on my taste buds. I could also hear a beeping in one of the open drawers. I sat up and started looking for the item that was still beeping. Eventually, I found it. It was a dusty old compass that had a red flashing light on the golden rim where a chain was supposed to be. It almost looked like the pocket watch that the little girl had in my vision. I inspected it and tried to make it stop beeping, but all I found interesting was the purplish glow that coated the outside of the compass. I threw it across the room in hopes that it would break, but it only sparked and popped. Now that I was thoroughly frustrated, I ran to grab it and started smacking it against the wall with all of my might, and still not even a dent.
10:00 pm
Hours later, after trying to smash it with a hammer, break it in half, throw it into a fire pit, and try to boil it on the stove it was still beeping. I was so mad at this point I practically died trying to scream so loud, I ended up coughing up a storm. Now I was sitting on the floor heaving for air with my hand on my chest. I was worn out, so I decided it would be best if I put it in a chest and keep it in the basement. After I did that the bpm (beeps per minute) started speeding up. I was now thoroughly confused.
"Why would a flashing, beeping compass start speeding up"? I was still staring at the chest so decided to see where it led to. "My mother was still not back from whatever trip she was on, but if I leave and she comes back she's gonna know that I'm gone. I gonna be doomed. But if I go I can possibly stop the obnoxious beeping. What if I don't come back? What if whatever I find is important and I need to find what it belongs to? What if it's a human that has the other thing that is connected to it".
The endless 'what ifs' swirled out my mouth. "If I leave my mother may never find me, I could never see her again". My mind was racing 1 million miles a minute. If I left, the chances of me getting lost are at an all-time high. I wouldn't be able to get back and I would be stuck with whatever or whoever I'm going to find. That or just die along the way. Neither of them seems fun to experience. But if I find whatever or whoever the compass is connected to it could lead to something amazing. I like those chances but if my mother finds me before I find whatever I need to find. She will be so disappointed in me.
You know I'll take those chances and my mother does not have power over me. In fact, she doesn't even need to be my mother. I can survive on my own, I'm sixteen. I'll be fine. I grab the compass from the chest, walk up the stairs, throw on my coat and walk out the door while pulling on my shoes, not bothering to tie the laces. As I walk down the front steps and run to the wall that had been a part of my whole life. No goodbyes, sad outro's, or elongated hugs and tears. It was just me and the dark, silenced world that was yet to be explored.
3 weeks later
I can't do this. I have not found a single sign of anything remotely close to what I'm looking for. But on the bright side did find a fox. I had ended up growing a holly-berry bush and the little, orange thief thought I made it for him. I ended up giving him some and he stayed. He has been following me around the dense forest, walking over rubble, and stepping through the river with me. I'm certain mother is looking for me, but who knows? Sometimes she'll be gone for weeks. Suddenly something catches my attention. The compass. It was beeping faster.
