ʟᴏᴀᴅɪɴɢ...
You had underestimated how quickly she had made her way into your heart. How like an invasive flower she managed to make your walls crumble like nothing. You knew that letting her be part of your life was dangerously irresponsible. But despite all you had done to not get her involved she always came back. After those events you were convinced she would not bother you again. You hoped it had been enough to have satisfied her childish curiosity. But unfortunately, night after night, she would come here, in search of your company. And in search of something to keep her entertained.
You couldn't seem to understand why you didn't just get rid of her. Knowing the many dangers that her presence could bring you and Rui. And yet, against your better judgment, you didn't make a move to stop her from getting closer to you and your brother.
Maybe your actions were being justified by selfish motives. Letting them become friends only to have the satisfaction of seeing your brother acting like the child he never had the chance to be. Or maybe by doing this, you hoped your heart would feel lighter from all the thoughts that had been weighing you down recently. You had yet to realize if any of this was working, but what you were aware of was how strangely fond you had become of the little demon girl.A hand was placed under your chin as you watched from a small cliff the younger demons. Nezuko hums in contentment as your brother shapes yet another figure with the strings in his hold. You follow the familiar movements of your brother's fingers and watch as the webs mold into a star. Nezuko's eyes light up in amazement and she claps her hands in praise. You can almost feel the way Rui is filled with pride at her reactions, and he is quick to give another demonstration of his magnificent abilities.
You couldn't help the small sigh that came out of your mouth at the sight. Your chest heavy from hours of troubled thoughts. And just as you were about to drown in the night's silence, a faint mumble catches your attention.
"Nezuko..."
You tilt your head upwards as you barely glance at the person you had so patiently been waiting for all these nights.
"You took your sweet time, didn't you?" You scoff at Tanjiro as he lets his heavy wooden 'backpack' fall on the grass between you two. His hair is disheveled, his eyes tired and his mouth is lightly agape as he stares at the scene in front of him.
"I..." He murmurs, his gaze falling back on you "I don't..."
Tanjiro paused at the edge of the cliff, his breath catching as he observed the scene unfolding below. Nezuko and Rui were interacting peacefully, the tension in his shoulders easing slightly as he realized there was no sign of malice between them. He watched as Rui spoke in hushed tones, his gestures gentle yet deliberate, while Nezuko listened intently, her eyes reflecting a mixture of curiosity and cautious optimism. And his surprise grew into a sense of amazement at the unexpected harmony between the two.
