Today was the big day. It was the first day of school and the day that the twins, Dakota and Dean Cameron were joining the football team and the cheer squad! Dakota was definitely ready to join the football team! Hopefully as their quarterback! And Dean was hoping to join the cheer squad as a starter.

Currently, Dean was in the Seabrook gym standing beside his friends, Addison and Bree. Addison was the cheer captain, Bucky's cousin. Addison had known Dean for a while now because Dean's twin sister Dakota and Addison had been best friends since they were little. Though, Dakota and Dean had never met Bucky. But Addison had told them both that Bucky was a tough cheer captain.

Bucky was a very self centered guy. He had been leading this school ever since his freshman year. Dean just tried to avoid him while Dakota did also.

Dakota was over at the football field with the football players who were ready to try out for the team. Of course, Dakota was the only girl trying out for the team. Everyone else was guys as usual. Guys who really sucked at playing football. But Dakota was hoping to change that today.

As Dakota stood on the football field with pride, the coach was walking down the line and talking to everyone. Well, at least Dakota wasn't the only odd one out on the field. Standing beside her was a zombie. That was pretty unusual. He was a tall zombie who was wearing the official zombie coveralls.

"Okay, welcome to football tryouts. As you know, this town is a cheerleading town 'cause this town likes to win. And our football team is awful, so we are not going to win this year, and I'm probably gonna lose my job. Good news for you, though. Y'all made the team, whoopie," the coach explained sadly, walking down the line and seeing everyone. After the zombie hears that, he started jumping up and down with excitement.

"Yes! I made it!" he exclaimed happily.

"Except for the zombie," the coach told the zombie. The zombie stopped celebrating as he looked at the coach with wide eyes.

"What?" the zombie asked.

"Principal Lee said you guys shouldn't even leave the basement. She didn't tell you?" the coach asked the zombie. Dakota stood there and watched for the zombie's reaction.

"No. Mmm-mmm. Don't think so. I think I would have remembered that," the zombie said. But even Dakota and the coach knew that the zombie was lying. "Come on, just let me be on the team," he pleaded with the coach.

"Can't have a zombie on the field, we'd look like a laughing stock. Besides, I'm no trailblazer. You know, I'm more of a follower. Actually, I'm not even really good at that, so..." the coach said trailing off. The zombie groaned and started walking away. Dakota stopped him and put a hand on his shoulder.
