She knew she was running late but she had to get her daily dose of coffein that she had been craving since she had opened her eyes this morning. That's why she decided to stop at Starbucks on her drive to work. She had it all figured out. Today was going to be a quiet day. She was going to grab her cup of cappuccino, go to work and read a couple of stories. She worked at a publishing house called Harper Publishing. She read stories all day and if they were good enough she would forward them to her boss Reed Harper, but if they weren't worth giving another glance she would throw them in the trash. Later after a long day she would go home, eat some dinner and then talk to her boyfriend on the phone while eating. Then she would eventually go to sleep.
But that was not how it was going to place itself out. The calm she felt now was just the calm before the storm. It would all change when she stepped through that door.
Before getting out of her car she stole a quick glance at her self in the rearview mirror. The dark silky hair was intact resting just above her shoulders and those hazel eyes were staring back at her. She quickly snatched her purse and got out of the car slamming the door behind her.
Then she stepped through the door at Starbucks.
That's when it happened. She bumped into a broad and tall man because she was in a hurry.
She almost fell back from the impact but he immediately caught her and she looked up to meet his gaze.
He had the most mesmerizing grey eyes with some blue patches in them. That's when she knew it was him.
Because those particular eyes had haunted her dreams every night for 20 years. This was the guy who had shot her dad 20 years ago when she was just five. He was trying to rob him off his expensive watch. When her father had refused to give it up, he had shot him dead in the head while staring at her with his piercing eyes.
