[3rd person POV, Mason's mind]

As we see mason, he is wandering around what can only be described as a frozen forest, he felt calm as he walked through the forest, listening to the soft crunching of snow under his feet, surprisingly he didn't feel cold, he felt warm like he was bundled up in a blanket by a fire, when he cane to that train of thought, he immediately thought back to when he was younger, living with his father, he smiled at the thought, before suddenly the frozen forest started slowly crumbling. He suddenly started hearing whispering voices, he couldn't make out what they were saying, some sounded familiar, some sounded unfamiliar, when suddenly one phrase, louder than the rest, echoed in his mind, "wake up" as soon as the phrase stopped he disappeared from the fantasy world he was in

[3rd person POV, Remnant]

When our protagonist opened his eyes, he found himself tied to a chair, as he looked up and looked around, he noticed he was in some sort of room, the room was barren, no windows, and the only door was on the opposite end of the room from him. Nothing seemed to be in it, aside from what appeared to be a metal table with wheels on it, almost like it was an interrogation room, "where the hell am i?" He thought to himself as he tested his bindings, struggling against them for a second before the sound of footsteps reached his ears. they seemed to be coming from outside the door, he stopped struggling and hung his head, and shut his eyes, making himself appear to still be unconscious. He stilled completely as he heard the door open and shut moments after "this is taking too long" he heard a new voice speak before they sighed when suddenly the sound of a smack rang out in the room as he felt a sharp stinging pain on his cheek to which he jolted up and clenched his arms and legs letting out a groan of pain, trying his best to act as if he wasn't awake already "where- where am I?" He looked around frantically as he struggled against his bindings for a quick second before his eyes locked onto the person, tall, blonde, much older than the original 4 he saw earlier, she held what seemed to be a riding crop, and had an outfit that resembled what a teacher would wear "well that woke you up" she spoke as he stared her down, stilling as he realized struggling was useless. "I will ask you this once, who. Are. You?" She challenged his stare with her own, both of them locked in what could only be described as a staring contest between 2 grizzly bears with the intensity behind them before mason spoke up "me? I'm just some poor bastard" he had a smirk as he finished his sentence with a chuckle to which the woman in from of him released a growl at, seeming not finding his joke funny "I mean, what is your name" she sounded like she was almost done with his shit already, he decided to respond with a half joking tone to his voice "depends on who you ask, I go by mason, ghost, even free bird" he gave her a look signifying he was i deed telling the truth, to which she gave a sigh to, deciding not to question the unusual names, before asking another question "what is that peculiar uniform you are wearing there mr. 'Mason'" her voice had an authoritative tone to it which reminded him of his days in basic before he answered again with another joke "what, this? This is just my normal clothes" his voice had a sarcastic tone to it but he had a look saying he was telling the truth, because he indeed was, this uniform had become normal to him after he'd worn it for so long, the woman was obviously annoyed by him by now and right as she was about to ask another question, the door to the room opened, and in walked in what seemed to be a man of older nature, he had grey hair, a pair of round glasses, and wore what seemed to be a green and black color schemed suit. The man was walking with a cane with a peculiar design to it, as he walked in he shut the door behind himself, and spoke with a softer tone to his voice "I hope you are treating this young man properly ms. Goodwitch" his voice was friendly, yet had an authoritative undertone, to which the one simply known now as 'goodwitch' nodded and responded promptly "i still do not understand why you brought him here of all places headmaster, the police station would've been safer" her voice had a tone of concern over the older mans actions, to which the older man simply shook his head and responded calmly "because I can tell there is more to the story than what he is telling us, isn't that right?" He turned his attention towards mason as mason just deadpanned him for a second before sighing "you don't know the half of it" mason responded with a tone of confirmation as the older fellow waved 'goodwitch' away, to which she begrudgingly left, leaving the two alone. The older fellow simply stood in front of mason and adjusted his glasses before speaking "I do hope ms. Goodwitch wasn't too rough with you, she can be a little hard headed at times" his voice took on a warm almost parental tone as he realized something "where are my manners, I am headmaster Ozpin, of Beacon Academy, and who might you be young man?" His voice kept its warm tone, as mason decided to not be a smartass for once "mason, sir" mason's voice held a calm tone as he responded to which the older fellow, now known as ozpin, responded with another question "and where might you be from, mason?" Ozpin was quick with his question but still held his warm tone "not from here, sir" mason was telling the truth technically, but not the whole of it, to which ozpin nodded before asking one final question "why were you essentially found in a crater in the middle of the emerald forest, wearing this unusual uniform?" Ozpin used his cane to point at him but in a way of just showing what he meant. "I... I do not know, sir" mason decided to play dumb mostly wanting to keep his information a secret until he knew exactly where the hell he was to ozpin nodded go his answer before unrestraining mason "well, anyhow, I will let you stay here at beacon until we can figure out your story, you will be bunked with another team, at least until we can get you your own dorm ready, welcome to beacon young man" ozpin's voice almost took on a fatherly tone as he smiled before walking off, motioning for mason to follow, which mason did, before he was lead to an elevator, seeing now he was in some sort of dungeon. As he got in and the doors closed ozpin stopped for a second "oh! I almost forgot, I do believe you will be needing these back" he handed mason his pistol as well as the extra mag it came with to which mason immediately holstered before ozpin held out a shiny piece of metal to him "you will also be needing this scroll" mason took it, and put it in one of his pockets as he let out a thanks. "I will let glynda know you will be staying, since you don't seem to have a last name, just say your last name is black". He said with a gentle and friendly tone. Mason nodded at his words in agreement. Once the elevator doors opened, ozpin walked out, with mason following close behind. As ozpin reached a specific dorm, he knocked on the door, to which someone who looked decently intimidating opened the door, the woman was tall, and had an intimidating aura to them as they seemed cold as an ice cube on the outside, which only added to the intimidation factor, seeing as how mason was a measly 5'6 which was perfect for being a pilot funny enough. "How may I help you, headmaster?" They asked in a calm tone, to which the heaaster set a hand on mason's shoulder "we have a new member of beacon, and I believe he would be best suited to fit into your team for the moment, until we can arrange for a dorm for him" the headmaster replied simply, to which the woman nodded and responded back politely "of course headmaster, we would be happy to let him stay with us until he has his own dorm" her tone was calm yet had an odd undertone to it, one mason didn't too much like, as if she was already plotting something, but he didn't have too much time to think about it, as ozpin said his farewells and mason was pulled into the dorm
