Long ago, a supernatural being named Mr.Tiny told the vampires that one day a Vampeneze Lord would rise and would lead the vampeneze to victory againts the vampires. But Mr.Tiny didn't want any old vampenze to just take control and say that he was the Vampeneze Lord,so, he gave the vampeneze a coffin which he named.....The Coffin of Fire. The Coffin of Fire worked by, whoever would lay in the coffin would be engulfed in flames and would die, but, one day someone would lay in the coffin and would not be killed by the flames. That person would be the Vampeneze Lord. Mr.Tiny also gave the vampires some security against the vampeneze and their lord, he game them The Stone of Blood. The stone of blood was a pure blood red stone that would allow all vampires a chance to bring back their race if the Vampeneze Lord rises and wipes them out. There also was another security advantage from the Vampeneze Lord but the vampires didn't know about until the Vampeneze Lord had already risin. The advantage was that three vampires and only three vampires would be able to kill the Vampeneze Lord and only the Vampeneze Lord could kill the hunters as they called themselves. When the times came, these hunters names would be....Larten Crepsly, Vancha March, and the half vampire Darren Shan. They later learned the identity of the Vampeneze Lord. He was Steve Leonard, former childhood friend to Darren Shan. To Steve's friends growing up, he was called Steve Leopard and that's what the hunters called him. The Hunters chased after Leopard for years until they had a huge confrontation with him in what he called, The Cave of Retribution. During that battle Larten Crepsley died trying to kill Leopard. After many years after Larten's death, Darren and Vancha confronted Leopard once again.......and for the final time! This is where our story begins.
