“You gotta come see this.”

Jason MacKensey reached for his headphones. It was a lazy Saturday, with rain coming down steadily since daylight. His brother had been on his iPad since after breakfast and every once in a while, he’d mumble something and then stick his iPad in Jason’s face to show him. First, it was outrageous stuff on social media, then it was cute animal memes on a sharing website. Then it was…Jason wasn’t sure if it had been the cool swords his brother was looking at or wrestling T-shirts. His brother was bored, and it was showing.

“I mean, really you gotta see this.”

“Not falling for that again. And no quizzes about superpowers.”

“No.” Chris let out a huff. “Don’t be ridiculous.” He got up and was about to stick the iPad in Jason’s face again. “Awesome, it’s not raining. Let’s go.”

Because it had been a lazy Saturday, neither of them had changed out of pajamas. Well, Chris had to change shirts because he’d overdone it on the syrup, but that was just him. “Not going anywhere with you in that. Where are we going?”

“Look.”

Jason sighed and took the iPad. He’d been reading or trying to. He looked at the screen. It looked like Chris was watching a video about a movie being made. He noticed absently that it was a live feed which surprised him and then he noticed something else. “Isn’t that the old place where they had that shop? The one where we got those costumes…” Jason tried to put the two together, but it didn’t make any sense.

“Look who that is.”

“Nash Caldwell. He was great in…wait, are they filming a movie…here?”

Chris just smirked. “Wow, took you longer than I thought.”

Jason was tempted to throw his brother’s iPad at his brother’s skull. “Oh shut up.”

“Give me back my iPad before you break it.”

“Me? I haven’t gone through three in the last five years.”

Chris rolled his blue eyes. “Those were extenuating circumstances.”

“Oh, I remember. What was the first time? Mom told you to put it up to eat supper and you threw it at the balcony.”

“It had that rubber cover; how did I know it would hit the arm of the stupid futon and crack the screen like a spiderweb…multiple spiderwebs.”

“Then you left it out in the rain.”

“Okay, that was a mistake, thought the cover was waterproof and wasn’t expecting a monsoon.”

Jason shook his head. “And the third time?”

“Oh shut up, you’re not the electronic police.”

“What on earth is going on in here, World War Three?”

“Well, if we go by the Star Trek Compendium, that’s already happened along with the Eugenics Wars. But Boston is still here, weird.”

Casi shook her head. “I’m hiding that thing. It’s fiction.”

“It’s not all fiction. There are facts too, like when Lincoln died.”

“Only because they were setting it up for that episode where Lincoln showed up on the Enterprise.” Jason sighed. “Get it together.”

“Mom, look.” Chris showed her the video. She started to hand it back and Chris was ready to take it when she pulled it back. “Oh my, I have to call Maria.”
