Y/N pov - 2 weeks from the last chapter

The past two weeks with Diane have been the same. She comes in each morning to keep me company but only uncuffs me when I have to use the bathroom. I know she's putting drugs into the food, but I keep eating it because I don't have a choice. Being obedient is hard, but there is no chance of escaping when I don't even know where I am.

Right now, I'm just laying in my bed and staring at the ceiling.

"Castaways, we are castaways..." I'm singing when I hear a chuckle and the door swings open to reveal Diane.

"Were you just singing?"

"No..." my cheeks flush in embarrassment.

"Oh, my sweet girl, you must be going crazy, staying here for so long," my captor says as she sits on the edge of the bed and traces my face with her finger. This is my chance.

"Well, if I could move around then I'd be happier," Diane bites her lip and has deep thoughts before nodding. She leaves the room and comes back with a key.

"Since you've been good, you can go anywhere in the house but the basement. It's not safe down there because the wood pillars are old and the ceiling could collapse."

Little did I know having freedom meant that she would follow me everywhere, but hopefully I will get some clues about where I am.

1 week time skip

Right now, Diane is downstairs making lasagna. I'm in my bedroom thinking about the current situation as a whole. I've looked through the whole house but I still have no idea where this house is and how close other people are. I think I need to take Diane's phone to open a GPS system. I know she doesn't have a password, but she always has the phone with her. I'll make us watch a movie she will hate and then I'll take it. Alright, it's a plan.

Pounding footsteps going up the stairs slightly startle me. Diane enters the doorway, slightly panting.

"What's wrong? I called your name twice to come downstairs."

I shrug. "Sorry, I guess I just zoned out." She looks relieved when she gestures toward the stairs.

"Let's go eat before dinner gets cold."

We walk downstairs and sit at the table. While eating, we're conversing and sharing a few laughs. Besides the kidnapping and psychotic part, Diane is a really caring person.

"So, what do you want to watch tonight?" she asks me before taking a sip of her red wine.

"Can we watch the Spongebob Squarepants movie?" She looks at me over her glass as if trying to see if I'm genuine or not.

"Really? A kid's movie about a sponge?"

"Are you questioning my immaturity right now? We watched Shrek twice, and you heard me singing the Backyardigans theme song."

"So you do admit it. You were singing." I sigh dramatically.

"Fine, I was, but that's not the point. Please, Diane? I really want to watch it."

She playfully huffs in defeat. "Fine, but tomorrow night we're watching something of my choice." I smile in victory and start to clear the table.

I know Diane kidnapped me and all, but moments like those almost make me feel guilty for running away. I think she is just lonely and wants some company. Granted, she has broken like twenty laws. I shake my head to clear my thoughts. Focus, I need to get out. Diane is hurting me and making me stay here against my will.

Later, we are snuggled up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn as we start the movie. Hopefully, this tires her so that she falls asleep.

My plan works because she is out cold thirty minutes into the movie. I gently take her phone from her cardigan pocket and open Google Maps. I'm not going to call the police because she'll hear me. Looking at the map, I see there's a rest stop on the side of a highway 2.9 miles out. Okay, so it's north of here...

Suddenly, a hand rips the phone out of my grasp. I see Diane looking at the phone screen to me with an angry expression. Shit. She really has mood swings. Diane curses, gets up from the couch, and storms to her bedroom. She returns with a syringe in her hand.

"After everything I've done for you, this is how you repay me?" I scramble to get up so we're on the opposite long sides of the couch.

"Please, Diane, don't do this."

"Can't you see I'm doing this to protect you?"

"From what? What are you protecting me from?"

"Everything! I've learned the world will feed on your sadness, so I brought you here because you need me." She then quickly climbs over the couch.

However, I am prepared for this. I throw the popcorn bowl at her, which cuts her forehead and makes her drop the syringe. Before she can react, I pick up the needle and inject the liquid into her neck.

"Sorry," I mutter as she loses consciousness. I lower her to the floor before grabbing her phone and keys and entering the garage. I try to turn on her car, but there's no gas in the tank. Did she hide the gas? Because there's no way she wouldn't have refilled it. I look around but give up because I don't know how long Diane will be out. I grab a backpack and put in water, a granola bar, and her phone before heading out. I toss the car keys far from the house and start my run. Time to get out of this mess.
