Part One And The Last

I gagged and looked around if anyone saw me. My piece of meat travelled back up my throat and I turned around to spit it out behind my seat. I slowly rotated back, trying an innocent smile.

But this was quickly erased off my face as I heard a rustle in the bushes behind us.

Everyone went quiet.

I was too afraid to do anything -- that's just the person I am -- but one of my colleagues beside me venture, 'Is anyone there?'

As a response, a green tentacle poked out of the ferns. Screams filled the air -- and then sirens. No one knew what on earth was happening.

Flames surrounded us in the clearing and more green tentacles appeared from unexpected places. One even grew out of my rucksack.

It was growing into utter chaos, but it all seemed to calm down when a dry, sharp and stiff paintbrush flew through the air followed by a wooden spoon.

All eyes turned.

Standing there before us was Em Green, the hero who came from another planet, legends said, who would come to earth only to save it from the hideous creatures of space -- aliens -- and then return to her own planet, never to be seen again.

I stood mesmerised as I would be one of the select luckiest people of this time, and then pass my story on to the next generations, and then they too would marvel at it.

'Never,' a croaking voice replied. It was one of the tentacles. Had it been reading my mind..?

'Yss,' It said, which I supposed meant yes.

'I'll end you before you do...' Before I could figure out what it meant, it grabbed me by my ankle and started dragging m across the clearing. I screamed and it gagged my mouth. I squirmed and more tentacles appeared, surrounding me and suffocating me until I knew not even Em Green could save me.

Finally the air went black all around and I knew that this was my end.

This was the time I started thinking about my last words. I needed to say something really witty so I would have something wise written on my tombstone, which would be empty, really, because I figured no one would be able to retrieve me from this place, either alive or as a dead body.

Deciding on my last few words was very difficult. Seriously difficult. But I finally settled on:

'My family and all those I have loved, know that I will always keep loving you, wherever I may be.'

And I closed my eyes to die.
