After way too much procrastination, I present to you, Cousins, Right?

As Ryan walked behind the two cousins, Annabeth asked Percy,
"So will you be making it to my birthday party then?"
"Wouldn't miss it for the world, Wise Girl," Percy grinned.
"Come on guys," Annabeth reasoned as she fished the car keys out of her purse.
"Okay Annie," Percy said.
Annie. No boy could call could call her Annie without getting judo flipped. Percy was in for it now.
Annabeth just laughed.
She just laughed.
Once they made it to Annabeth's house, her little step-brothers, Bobby and Matthew were running around while Annabeth's stepmom was finishing up the icing on Annabeth's owl cake.
"Ooo..." Percy said as he put his finger on the blue-green icing and licked it, "Tastes good Mrs. Chase."
"Thank you, Percy. Now all of you go find something to do."
Just as Mrs. Chase finished talking, Bonny and Matthew came up and grabbed the sleeve of Ryan's navy blue shirt.
"Will you please play hide-n-seek with us?" The twins begged.
"Well..." Ryan stuttered. He looked back at Annabeth, who was laughing at a joke Percy had told. Ryan was planning on pulling her aside and telling her how he really felt about her and their relationship.
"Should we ask Annabeth if she wants to play too?" Ryan asked hopefully.
"Ok, but will you play?" The two pestered.
"Yeah, but-" Ryan began as the twins ran off yelling "GO!".
Ryan sighed as he looked over to where he last saw Annabeth and Percy. They were gone. Maybe they went to the other room or go to the bathroom. Yeah, this was no reason to freak out. Now to play hide-n-seek, but with a certain pretty blonde girl instead.
Ryan began in the living room, next the family room he was just in.
No, not here.
He poked his head in the kitchen. Bingo, there she was. Annabeth was sitting on the counter... With her head on Percy's shoulder. They talked quietly, too quiet for Ryan to hear. Ryan almost had enough courage to go in when Annabeth leaned over to Percy and kissed him. A real kiss. On the lips. And that's when Ryan felt his heart really fall apart. Not like it did when Percy called her Annie or how he could so easily make Annabeth laugh or even when Percy kissed her on the cheek. This kiss made his heart crumble up and deflate, it showed too. Ryan could already feel the tears beginning to form.
Ryan got up and walked away, back into the family room just in time to hear Mrs. Chase to say, "It's time for the birthday girl to blow out her candles!"
Once Annabeth was in the room, followed by Percy, Mrs. Chase was handing Annabeth her present.
Ryan was confident that his gift to the very special birthday girl was perfect. The new book Annabeth wanted, along with a note telling her how he really felt. Sucking up his tears, Ryan handed her the gift, but not before Percy got there first.
"Annabeth," Percy said, "You make me the happiest person. You're the syrup to my pancakes, the candy to my blue and, most importantly, the Wise Girl to my Seaweed Brain. So, I feel it's only necessary to give to this." Percy pulled out a little black box. He opened it and there, sitting in the velvet was a ring. A light blue jewel sparkling against the white ring. Annabeth's eyes swimmers with tears, much like Ryan's were. If only his were for joy instead of heart break.

Ryan didn't stay after that. He left. He walked out the door and that was that.
