You like using your werewolf abilities to save people. In fact, it’s one of the only things that actually makes you feel okay with the fact that you’re a werewolf, like by being able to stop the hunters from killing at least a few more people, you’ll be able to make up for all of the blood you’ve had to shed over the last few years. So, you’d normally be fine with the fact that you’re driving with your best friend Liam and a few other members of Scott McCall’s pack to go stop a hunter shootout, except for the fact that one of the people you’re about to save is Brett Talbot.

Brett Talbot. You’ve heard a lot about the guy ever since you met Liam, and just about all of it is bad. He terrorized Liam while your friend was still on the Devenford Prep lacrosse team, he had a strong hand in getting him kicked out of school, and Liam’s been forced to deal with him ever since he found out Brett was a werewolf, too. You’ve never actually met Brett, but that’s about to change tonight.

Liam got a text around half an hour ago from Brett, saying that he and a few other members of Satomi’s pack were out on patrol when they said they thought something strange was going on. Either they saw hunters or could hear someone other than them in the woods, but whatever it was, it’s not good. Plus, Brett hasn’t responded to a single one of Liam’s messages, which can only spell trouble. So, you, Liam, Malia, and Scott are driving over to the woods. Stiles and the rest are staying behind to monitor the situation and make sure everything’s alright. This is the usual routine for hunter trouble- never let the entire pack go into danger. That way, you know for sure that someone can come to save you if necessary, and if things are really bad, there will be at least one more pack member left to carry out the mission of saving the Beacon Hills supernaturals from the hunters.

However, you don’t think it’s going to be that bad tonight. Satomi’s pack aren’t fighters, not the way you and your friends have been forced to become killers. To them, danger could mean seeing even one armed hunter with guns and arrows aquiver. That being said, any hunter is trouble, so you’re here with your friends. Hopefully, this will all end fairly quickly so you can head home and get some rest.

Scott stops the car outside the Beacon Hills Preserve, and you and your friends get out. You walk quickly through the woods, careful not to make a sound. No reason to alert the hunters to your presence, right? After a while, Scott takes the lead, having got the scent. You follow him, keeping your eyes open for any sign of trouble.

Scott finds the hunters soon enough. Your eyes widen as you take in the scene. There are four or five hunters, all converging on a group of werewolves that must be Brett and his friends. Scott mutters a few plans under his breath, loud enough only for people with werewolf-enhanced hearing to discern them. You split up from the others, Liam close behind you. You’ll be taking out the wolves in the front, while Scott and Malia head to the back. It’s a move you’ve practiced many times before, and you’ll now apply it with the same deadly accuracy. You attack out of nowhere, lunging out from the dark tree cover to slam into the nearest hunter. You slash once with your claws and the man is down, crumpling to the ground like a doll whose strings have been cut. You see Liam to your left, doing the exact same thing, and move on to the next hunter. Judging by the distant sounds of fighting across the clearing, Scott and Malia have found the backup hunters and taken them down as well.

You kick the last hunter to the ground, then straighten up, glancing around the clearing to make sure you haven’t missed anyone. You see one of the werewolves approaching you from the side and turn to face him. Judging by the fact that this boy is about your age, tall with short dark hair, and blue eyes flashing just as brightly as the smirk he’s currently wearing, this must be Brett Talbot.

He confirms it when he stops walking in front of you, folding his arms casually across his chest and doing his best to seem as cool and confident as possible. “Thanks for the help. I’m Brett, by the way, and I’d love to know who you are.”
