"My birthday?"
I quipped, digging to the bottom of my Bottega Jodie.
"Yes, darling your birthday."
He said softly, dark eyes scanning over the oxblood wine menu. We had arrived for reservations at Gna' Sara 30 minuets prior, and two bottles had since passed our rich linen table.
I let the bag drop in my lap defeatedly.
"I'm not one for celebrations."
I murmured, red tipped nails clicking nervously against fine silver.
"Humor me."
His lips curved into that devilish grin.
"We can go anywhere, do anything. Just say the words."
He placed the menu down, raising his hand for our waitress. She scuttled over, mousy eyes fixing over Luca.
My fingers clasped around my fork, the tines digging into the flesh of my palm.
She was svelte, all legs and glinting emerald eyes with waving blonde hair. She was beautiful and soft and...not holding his attention.
His eyes were on me, those flickering gentle eyes. His fingers reached for me, stretching over the navy linen of our table.
"d'Abruzzo, per ilo mio amore"
He sizzled, fingers clasping against my wrist. Her face paled, clearing her throat.
"Grazie"
He said once more, excusing her from the table.
I bit the corner of my mouth to contain the small wry grin forming.
"Anywhere?"
I breathed.
he nodded.
I let my fingers trace the inside of his palm.
"I think I would like to stay home for once."
