Born and raised in Destiny Islands, Sinny was practically shunned from the term "new."
Nothing interesting ever happened down in the tropical atmosphere, and the ones who lived here couldn't pretend otherwise.
It was the same sights everyday; the rolling and crashing of the ocean waves, the grainy, soft feeling of the warm sand, the blazing heat of the bright, summer sun... To put it bluntly, it was boring to the island folk.
Especially for Sinny.
There were barely any kids in their part of the Islands, let alone anyone fifteen.
...Well, there were... A good handful, too. But it always scared Sinny to try to talk to anyone that wasn't their parents, and even then it took them years to figure out that wide, sparkling eyes meant "thank you" or "wow."
So, not only do they have no friends, they're terrified by the thought of making friends. It was pathetic.
However, there had always been a particular group of kids Sinny's age– about three of them– that caught their attention. The three fascinated Sinny, and they would go out early in the morning just to see them up close.
The first kid was a petite girl with short, strawberry-red hair. She was spunky and sweet, and seemed enthusiastic about a lot of things. She's named "Kairi."
The second was a tall, muscular boy with long, silver hair that came just passed his shoulders. He was the more mature one, but seemed to be rebellious, too. His name is "Riku."
Then the last one– the one that awed Sinny the most– was a boy with short, chocolate-brown hair that always had a messy, yet calm tone to it. He was pumped up ninety percent of the time, and had the most ambitious, deep-blue eyes. If you look at them long enough, it feels like you're being sucked into an endless ocean. He sported a big, goofy grin on his face, and made promises with the utmost sincerity. His name is "Sora."
Every one struck Sinny as a treasure, simply because they did everything together. It blew Sinny's mind every time, and gave them courage to at least try to talk to someone... Unfortunately, to no avail.
Once or twice they thought about talking to the three personally, but always pushed that thought away. They didn't want to ruin anything. The friendship was already perfect... To step in would mean infecting something precious. Something fragile.
Currently, Sinny is sitting near a tree, picking leaves off of paupou fruits, listening to their favorite people talk about building a raft to leave Destiny Islands.
Kairi was giving out instructions, with occasional questions from the other two. When they seemed to have agreed on something, the talking stopped, leaving Sinny with the sound of calm waves and rustling leaves.
They clutched their paupou fruits in their hands and tucked themselves in a crevice in the tree as to not get in the way, savoring the sweet, harmonious taste of the paupou.
After about fifteen minutes or so, Sinny had gotten another pair of fruit to snack on. They had just plucked the leaves when a familiar voice started to talk.
"Wow, you sure like paupou fruits, huh? Mind if I have one?" asked the voice.
It took Sinny a second to figure out the voice was talking to them, and slowly looked up to match the gaze of a set of diamonds. No, sapphires. Sora.
Panicking, Sinny tried to think of a response. They started to sweat, speeding up their thinking process before remembering that they haven't spoken in the last ten years, making them panic even more.
They had to say something, though. Fast. Their mind was racing, taking in the thought that SORA was right in front of them. Talking to them. It was like a dream.
"Uh... Hello? Anybody home?" Sora asked, a puzzled look on his face.
This was all so overwhelming. What will they do? They didn't want to scare him away, but the red-hot blush on their face was suffocating!
They simply nodded and handed Sora the second paupou before staring down at their snow-white hands, noticing the slight pink on the knuckles and fingertips.
"Thanks!"
Accepting the fruit, Sora plopped down beside Sinny.
Oh no, they thought, what'll I do? I can't just open my mouth and say something... I'll try my best...
Sora started to talk again.
"I'm Sora. You can call me whatever you want, though," he says, smiling.
Sinny just held their paupou to their mouth, thinking long and hard about what to say.
"I've seen you a lot on the Islands, but you always seemed nervous about something, so I didn't wanna bother you."
Their heart was beating way too fast. They opened their mouth a few times, but reconsidered their words.
"So... what about you what's your name?"
Oh, the dreaded question. The one you always had to respond to.
Mustering up every ounce of courage they possibly had, they sucked in a breath, and began to speak.
"Si.......... Sin..." their lips quivered uncontrollably.
"Sin...?" Sora repeated. He was looking at them with a worried expression on his face.
"Sin..
..ny. Sinny. Please. Call me... Sinny."
