Chapter 1 Part 1: Goodbye

July 2nd, 2021
→ Eve 11:23 AM: OMG! I'm so excited to finally fly over! I've been dying for this moment for like EVER!

→Gia 11:24 AM: I'm so excited for you! When you finally come over we can hang out at this mall that just opened! It has super cute stores and a tiny shop for markers and pens that you need!

→Eve 11:24 AM: fun!! My dad's calling me to help pack up the car. I'll text you when I land! <3

I begin to pack up my things in my bag. I take a moment to pause and recollect myself. This is actually happening. I'll have to make sure to say goodbye to mom before I leave. I swing the bag around my shoulder and I head out with my headphones plugged into my phone. I walk outside quickly to make it in time.

"Hey dad! Can you get my bag for me? I need to do something important." I notify my dad as he's packing the car. He looks at me and acknowledges my wishes. I step down from the curb and I begin to listen to music as I make my way over to the park.

If I haven't mentioned before, my mother passed away 3 years ago to leukemia. Right now I'm heading to her burial ground that she had reserved for herself. There's no one else around but her. She sits at the top of a hill next to a pine tree as old as I can remember. She used to admire all of the butterflies that would come around when we would have a picnic up there, so whenever a butterfly comes by I always think it's her. She was the kindest person and she was so gentle. I'm heading up there to drop off some flowers I grew for her. She loves chrysanthemums. Just a bundle will do the job. I miss her.

I'm climbing up the hill with the flowers in my hands wrapped in a damp paper towel. I approach her grave and I get on my knees. I sit and rest my hands on my lap looking at her stone.
"Mother, it's the day. I leave for the states today. Dad says he got a job opportunity that will really help the both of us! I brought you your birthday flowers that Dad and I got you on your birthday. We'll come back to visit you and oma really soon. I promise." It was a little difficult to choke up the words I needed to say before I left. I could feel my face getting hot.
I set the flowers at the foot of her stone and I stand up, wrapping the straps of my bag around my shoulders.

Dear Girls of Winston Hall,

Welcome! We are very excited for your arrival. We would like to take the time to go over some very important rules here at Winston to make sure your school experience is safe and memorable!
"Oh it's just ground rules. I'll just skim over some of them." I mumble.

1. Be to school on time! Very important for lowerclassmen. First impressions matter!
2. No outside food or drink allowed. Simply for the safety of other students.
3. Listen and respect your counselors! They want the best for you.
4. Raise your hand to ask a question or comment.
5. Make sure to have your student ID on hand at all times! The best and most efficient way to identify personal belongings and lost items such as uniforms or shoes.
6. Make sure to dress in your Winston Hall uniform appropriately. Skirt must be below fingertips. Socks must be below the knee. Shirts must be tucked in and ties are to be tied correctly. Blazers must be worn at all times!
7. Strictly NO CELL PHONE USE IN CLASS! Exceptions are made in the hallways during passing periods or during lunch.
8. No vehicles permitted outside of parking areas.
9. Improper conduct on school grounds is not permitted.
10. No public presentation of affection towards others on school grounds.
11. Make the most of this year!

I'm so glad you were able to enroll in such a wonderful and inspiring district such as Winston Hall! We'll make sure you make the best of this year. GO OWLS!

"This year shouldn't be so bad." I say as I lay back in the seat of the airplane.

*MIC SCRATCH*
"Attention all passengers of Sourin' Airlines. I would like to make a few announcements before we head on our way to our 8 hour flight to Baltimore, Maryland. Blah blah buckle your seatbelts blah."

I put in my headphones and I begin to blast girl in red and salvia palth as I start to fall asleep.

*DUN DUN~ DUN DUN~* The plane rings as it begins to descend. I slowly open my eyes and notice snacks set on my tray table. I was a bit hungry, so I could use a complimentary snack. I bust open the bag of trail mix and I look out the window to see it filled with water from below us.

This is where it begins.
