Dark, damp, and deep underground. This is all you have come to know. You lived in the subway, what used to be a bustling place of movement and light is now a carnivorous cave that swallows the light replacing it with darkness. However you were used to this. After all, anything was better than living outside.

You remembered back to that time.

You were running away from one of the Four Horsemen of John. You could see your breath in the frigid air, hurried puffs of mist that lingered in the air and dissipated. The Horseman was closing in. It's bizarrely spider-like appendages crashing down on the pavement creating craters in the ground. Every time its huge legs stomped on the ground, the earth trembled and your body was hurdled against the force. Nevertheless you kept running, but you were running out of steam. There was nowhere to go. You don't have a home anymore, all in front of you are broken down skyscrapers and slabs of pavement that jutted upwards towards the sky.

You spied a small opening in one of the skyscrapers and you raced towards it. You slid inside and hunched in the corner of the room as you heard the loud banging and crashing of the Horseman digging through the concrete walls of the decaying skyscraper trying to reach you.

Your eyes widened as a claw slammed into the opening. You shrieked as it got closer to you. Was this really how you were going to die? Tears flowed down your cheeks as you screamed for help in this hopeless situation. Then the claw disappeared and the crashing stopped, not long afterward you heard a loud groaning of metal and then a crash. You yelped as debris from the roof fell around you. Then a blanket of silence surrounded you.

You shivered; as moments before you would have been nothing more than a smear of blood and gore on the ground.

Who had saved you?

Why would they save you?

All of a sudden you heard footsteps. You whimpered and pushed yourself against the corner you were hiding in and wished you could just blend into the wall. You closed your eyes.

They got closer and closer and then stopped right in front of you.

You heard a rustling of fabric as whoever it is bent down to your level.

"Come now little human, no need to be frightened." a voice said. Curiosity got the better of you as you opened your eyes and looked up.

In front of you was a vampire. He had red bangs and a brown braid that laid across his white uniform over his right arm. His eyes were the color of red wine.

You froze in fear. You were the prey caught by the predator. The vampire laughed at your reaction.

"Haha! No worries, little human you are safe. I won't kill you. However I am going to offer you a deal-"

That is how you had come to this place. The vampires protected you as well as other humans in exchange for blood. You gingerly touched the recent bite marks on your neck. They were covered by a white bandage which was tinged red, however the pain was fresh.

You sighed as you sat against the wall and watched all that was around you. The vampires were guarding and the human children were either getting bitten or resting. You were livestock, but you were willing to give your blood. Life is something you prefered over death after all.

You closed your eyes as you started to fall into the lull of sleep. The vampire had taken a lot of blood and you were exhausted. However before you could do so you heard screams and clangs of steel against steel. Your eyes flew open as you saw human soldiers burst into the chamber and fought the vampires. Soldiers clad in black uniforms with bright green trim used weapons black as night to slay your vampiric saviors. Your eyes burned in hatred as more of the vampires were killed, captured or were forced to flee. You couldn't move due to loss of blood and you wished you could have done something.
