The Music Freaks; Realization

(Skip if you don't wanna read this) A/N: This is where the angst starts, where Jake will start to rethink his decision and feel very sad. BTW, this is my first time writing angst, so I apologize if it's bad. Anyway, please enjoy!

Jake just stood there, frozen in place. He didn't say anything, it was starting to creep his friends out.
But he was so stunned - and angry, too. His best friend he thought that he could trust for so many years just betrayed him on purpose, just to get him kicked out of the club.
"What?" Liam looked at Drew in disbelief. "Drew, why would you do that?"
Drew was staring at the ground, not saying a word.
"You messed up, dude!" Henry nudged his shoulder, but to his surprise, he still didn't react.
"I knew it," Jake muttered. "I shouldn't have trusted you." He said coldly, as he walked away from them. Drew was still looking down, expressionless.
"Jake, wait!" Liam called from behind. As Jake turned around, he saw Liam and Henry chasing after him. He stopped walking eventually, and they caught up to him.
"You both planned it as well?" Jake said.
"No, no! We didn't." Liam told him. "I swear, we didn't even know about it until today."
"Yeah," Henry added. "And even though we hate the music club as much as Drew does, we won't go too far just to get you kicked out." He explained.
Jake sighed. At this point, he didn't know who to trust anymore, but it seemed like Henry and Liam were both telling the truth.
"Fine," he said. "I trust you both."
Jake didn't say anything else. If he was to open up to them, he would, but he was still skeptical after everything. Maybe if he told them that he no longer joined the music club just for Daisy, they would tell Drew.

He slowly walked away from them and walked back to the school. He needed some time alone - how was he gonna explain this all to the music club?

After lunch, he headed to the classroom of the next period (A/N: I forgot what's the next period after lunch so forgive me shjshshshsk). There he saw Luke and Hailey, sitting beside each other. He sat behind them, as that was his assigned seat. Hailey saw him, but avoided eye contact. Their teacher was still not present in the classroom.

This is my chance, Jake thought to himself. I have to explain everything to them.
He stood up from his seat, about to poke Hailey and talk to her when their teacher came in and he suddenly sat down on his seat with a loud THUD! that caused everyone - except Hailey, to look at him. Even Luke glanced for a second.

"Jake?" His teacher called from the front of the classroom. "Is something the matter?"

Students were still staring at him, and he shook his head. "Nope! Nothing's wrong." he chuckled nervously. Their teacher raised her eyebrow, then continued speaking. "All right then. Let's begin the lesson."

Once the lesson began, Jake couldn't focus, because all he could think of was how he would apologize to the music club.
Apologizing isn't enough, He thought, as he remembered the time he apologized and he said he didn't mean it. They didn't believe him.
For the rest of the day, Jake sulked in his own sadness. He felt so lost, he didn't know what to do. He even felt angry at himself, for saying all those things - for snapping in front of Drew and his other toxic friends. Liam and Henry might be an exception, but still... how could he fix his mistake and make up for it? How could he explain everything? Would the music club even believe him?

He sat down on the rooftop, near the railing. Jake remembered the time he first sang out here aloud, but he made sure he was just whispering that time so no one could hear him. He must've gotten too carried away, though, because that was when Daisy first approached him and told him to join the music club.

Daisy...

Jake felt angrier than ever. At himself. At the music club, for not believing him. At his toxic friends, who betrayed him. At everyone.

He sighed, a tear rolling down his cheek. He was about to think about how his music dreams are now gone when he heard a very familiar girl's voice:

"Jake?"
