First Kiss (Theodore)

Soft lips touched his, and Theo couldn't really hope for much more than this hell. Who would've thought he'd be kissing his crush right now? The pills must be making him delusional because there is absolutely no way this could be real.

Of course, his theory was proven correct just as the dream started to get better. Sometimes when he woke up, his heart would race and his throat would be too dry. Maybe it was the pills that made the dreams just that much more real, or the reason they weren't worse. Theo got up from his bed with a tired sigh. He resigned himself to the fact that he had to begin his day. That tired feeling never really left him, not even throughout the day, but of course, there was a reason for that too. He was never really able to fit in all that well. Even on good days, it was no different. Life always felt a bit confusing, like everyone around him had it all figured out. The clothes they wear, the bands they like, who they are, and who they want to be. all things Theo couldn't seem to get a handle on. Speaking of that, he finally picked an outfit out of the ones that were now scattered around his room. A baby blue collared sweater, white shorts, and white slip-on vans are the perfect outfit to be noticeably unnoticeable.

As the day started, he bounded down the stairs, somehow still not making a noise just as he always did. The purpose? It was his usual morning routine, which he'd adopted when he and Elinor first became close. He sifted through the lipsticks lined up against the mirror and picked out his favorite, a shade of mauve that complemented his pale skin before promptly sneaking out. It was just his luck that his parents had to be in the kitchen when he got out, but what did he expect of his perfect little family?

"Morning sweetheart how'd you sleep?"

That was his dad, the only one with an ounce of empathy here and the DA of Savannah, Georgia.

"Uh good I guess"

If dreaming about your crush was normal, then there wasn't much he could complain about.

"I refilled these for you; you just so happened to be running out"

The concern in her voice was palpable, and her slightly condescending tone was obvious. His dear mother, oh, he could go on and on about her all day, but that wouldn't be very nice, so he'd refrain.

"Really we just had them refilled two weeks ago! Is everything okay Theo?"

The question only made him scowl, because if he was going through an entire bottle of blood pills in two weeks, did it seem like everything was okay? Theo just gave them both a look before going back to drowning his coffee in cream and sugar.

"Listen Theodore it's been three weeks since your birthday and your mother and I think it's time that-"

The sound of a car horn could be heard blaring outside, and Theo smiled internally.

"Oh that's my queue to leave! We can talk about this later you know have a mature conversation and all".

Grabbing his thermos from the counter, Theo rushed out, ignoring his parents' attempts to get him to come back, but before he could make it out the door, he was stopped in his tracks by none other than his sister. She put a well-manicured finger under his chin and lifted it because, despite his height, she was still taller than him in those heels of hers.

"That isn't your color"

She dragged her thumb over his bottom lip, effectively wiping off the majority of it.

"Sorry"

Elinor tousled his hair and set her hands on his shoulder

"It's alright sweet little"

The horn blared once again, Theo gave Elinor a soft smile before making his way outside.

Theo didn't think he could've rushed down the stairs any faster without tripping as his best friend continued to honk the horn.

"Mr.Fairmont might I say you are the prettiest peach I've ever seen!"

Ben was always like that, and maybe that made them best friends. Theo put on his best southern accent before speaking.

"Well aren't you the sweetest thing"

They both laughed before driving off, blasting away before he cheats by Carrie Underwood. Savannah was awfully pretty in the morning, but it just happened to become a lot more than that when you were screaming the lyrics to the songs on the radio on the way to school. Ben Wheeler was the kind of guy you fall in love with. They'd been jumping in muddy puddles and reading every book off his mom's bookshelf since they were born. Hell, they'd even dated for a month when they were twelve. It was how they found out they were both gay. Being friends appealed much more to both of them, and honestly, Theo couldn't have hoped for more. Ben was the popular kid, the star athlete who was invited to all the parties, and Theo was popular by association. Bottom line Ben helped him fit in hell his body was still changing tall with nothing but the lean muscle and those raging headaches were getting worse by the day but nobody needed to know that.

They both spoke idly as they walked to their locker, occasionally laughing at something or talking about Noah Harrington, a closeted straight guy. As they were opening their lockers, Theo almost keeled over with the force of the migraine that hit him. It was as if his entire world had gone red and all he could do was brace his hands against the locker and ride it out. Taking out two of his blood pills, he threw them back, drowning them with coffee so the flow would be easier.

"Another migraine?"

That voice must have been Ben's after these episodes he had trouble articulating the little things.

"Uh yeah"

Theo rubbed his eyes harshly before taking a step back.

"Oh Theo before I forgot I'll pick you up at nine for the party tonight"

Theo's eyebrows furrowed as he turned toward Ben.

"What party are we talking about"

it wasn't often he just forgot things but he was also never a social person.

"Noah Harrington's party you know the one you promised you'd go to"

Oh, he should really stop making promises to people with a good memory.

"Yeah, yeah promises and parties are the two things I actually hate doing used against me"

If he didn't love Ben so damn much he'd just say no but that wasn't a choice he had.

Later at lunch he and Ben were sitting at their usual table when his eyes diverted to a certain presence.

"You know you could just I don't know talk to him"

Theo was snapped out of his trance by Ben's voice.

"As if he's just well.."

There wasn't really one way to describe Samuel Burns, but Theo would just say intoxicating. Tossed black hair and shiny hazel eyes always left a lasting effect on him whenever they happened to look his way. His nose was always buried in a book, which Theo found endearing, and he somehow came off as sort of a badass in a softer way. He was always adorned in silver jewelry, which kept Theo a couple of inches away from him at all times, but other times he couldn't help but stare. Yeah, he felt like a bit of a creep, but could anyone blame him? Hell, he was gay and appreciative of the pretty boy that blessed his eyes every day.

"He's just him, and I could never just go up and say anything."

If he was a better person, maybe he would have, but for now, he was just content with staring.
