Joshua Sommers knew he wasn't fit for this world, this world was cruel and harsh and mean to anyone who showed an ounce of weakness, and he seemed like he couldn't catch a break because of it.

Ever since he was little all he wanted to do was protect his family, his twin was obviously the most important to him, but that didn't mean he didn't care for the rest of his family.

His older sister in particular was always kind to him, even when he finally came out of the closet in tenth grade and his parents couldn't seem to look him in the eyes anymore.

The siblings were always close, until Miranda met Greyson and everything started to break apart. Suddenly their older sister wanted nothing to do with them to busy doting on the man and giving him children.

Every year they would get a Christmas card of the little family, that's how they found out they even had a niece and nephew, a lousy Christmas card.

For a while Joshua had been traveling the world wanting to see everything it had to offer, but when he received that phone call from his twin that their older sister and her husband took a swan dive car first off the Wickery bridge, he felt like this world was to cruel to be explored by him.

He felt it was unfair that it chose to take his sister who was too kind and understanding to even stand up to her piece of shit husband, and leave their children behind without a mother and father forced to be under the watch of the two most under qualified people imaginable.

But the world doesn't care how cruel it is, it doesn't care that Joshua was terrified of being a 'parental' figure, it doesn't care that it threw him into a complete downward spiral when it bestowed a random ghost to watch over him.

It just doesn't care. And that's how he got stuck with the one and only Finn Mikaelson.

You see Joshua hadn't stepped foot in Mystic Falls since he was nineteen, given that the man is now twenty-five, it's been while.

So when he had reached that ugly sign indicating he was home he was expecting to feel a tinge of sadness mixed with annoyance, instead all he felt was terror as a large man dressed in mid evil attire appeared in his passenger seat causing him to scream bloody murder.

Of course Finn -being his dramatic self- screamed back equally as terrified and confused, one by him suddenly appearing, and two by the thing they were in and how fast they seemed to be moving.

Joshua was quick to pull the car over slamming on his brakes making Finn go flying through the window only for it to stay intact making Joshua scream even more and hit the gas wanting to get far away from him.

That obviously didn't work because when he got about five miles away Finn was practically dragged back into the car.

Once they found there was no getting away from each other Joshua decided he was just going crazy from guilt, that was the only logical reasoning, until things started to take a turn for the weird in Mystic Falls.

Joshua had gotten a job at the local high school as an arts teacher meaning he was a prime candidate for all the supernatural drama that is circling his students especially his niece.

From the Salvatore's coming to town and turning out to be Vampires, to the local douche becoming a werewolf, and his favorite student being a witch, and oh yeah his niece being a fucking doppelgänger making said og face -what he's calling Katherine- come to town to torment them.

So you could say he's kind of glad that he had Finn by his side even though he tries to ignore him most of the time.

Finn has been a real help when it came to knowing the supernatural, being that Joshua's the only one that can see him, he's used that to his advantage making everyone think he's smart when in actuality he's just being fed these things by literally the oldest vampire known to man.

Finding out Finn was in fact a vampire that had been stuck in a coffin for nine-hundred years was a bit of a shock for the young man. It happened on a random Tuesday as well after Finn had found his tie collection and stated how his brother Elijah would love them.

After that day Finn had been feeding Joshua information, but only when he asked about it not wanting to overwhelm the poor man who couldn't even handle when Ross cheated on Rachel.

So Joshua's life had been interesting since stepping foot back into Mystic Falls, and with Katherine running around causing havoc he's starting to wish he was still traveling worrying about getting some flesh eating virus, but instead he was here worrying about if his niece was going to live or if mermaids did exist since vampires, witches, and werewolves do.
