you layed sprawled out on your bed staring at the ceiling with an empty expression. d'arby had given you a day off so you could collect yourself after learning of giovannis death, which you have so far spent just laying in bed. the casino would feel a bit empty without him, you thought. sure, everything would still function the same without him, but that seemed to be the problem. the casino would work just fine without him, and you hated that, and you hated that his absence made you felt relieved since you wouldnt have to worry about anything being out of place.

why though? why would nothing change because he left? was it because diavolo and dio could fill in for him anytime? or was it because he wasnt really needed? you felt tears cling to the corners of your eyes as you battled your own thoughts, just wanting to feel some comfort, any comfort.

but, sadly, these things dont come out of thin air, you knew this all too well. sighing, you slowly sat up, trying to find the will to do anything really. breakfast seemed boring, you had the day off so working was out of the question, you even considered brushing up on your boxing skills. after a while of bouncing between choices to distract you from the death of your friend, you ultimately decided that just making today a lazy day would be a nice option.

you rolled off of your bed and fell to the floor, the impact not really hurting. groaning, you stumbled to your feet and stretched your arms, closing your eyes as you woke up every muscle you could. you wobbled to your dresser, looking over your options for a casual day. you had no doubt you would still have to help around the casino here and there, so you settled for something similar to your usual outfit, only less put together. black dress pants and a white button up, which you tucked in and rolled the sleeves on.

you left the first two buttons undone, allowing a portion of your chest to be shown and giving you a relaxed look. turning to your box full of gloves, you began looking through them as you seeked out a specific pair you wanted to wear today. "where are they..."

after about a minute, you finally found a pair of tight, red gloves with small heart embellishments on the palms. these fashionable gloves were gifted to you by none other than giovanni, who gave them to you on your birthday. you decided to wear them today in honor of him, as a silent thank you for all the good times you both shared.

maybe today you would take brooklyn to the aquarium, seeing as how she's been locked up in the casino forever. it cant be healthy for a child to be in these surroundings, but you couldnt help it. you at looked yourself in the mirror. you seemed presentable, tired but presentable none the less. slapping on a bit of concealer and mascara, you fixed your hair and left the bathroom, slipping on your black dress shoes that glimmered in the dim light of your room.

walking out of your office, you were immediately greeted by valorie, who held out a small bundle of flowers to you. "hey, how are you feeling?"

"i feel like shit, but then again, i always feel like shit so i guess im feeling pretty normal." you responded, leaning against the doorframe.

she smiled weakly, looking as if she didn't get any sleep. "sorry to hear that. i got you these flowers, hopefully they make you a little happier.."

you looked down at the small bouqet and took them from her hands, looking at them with a smile ghosting your face. " (f/f), my favorite! thank you valorie!"

"its no problem (y/n)!"

you looked down at the flowers in thought, "say... why dont you take a break from collecting debtors today? you've worked really hard this week."

"oh, i couldnt ask you for such a thing!"

"really, i insist. take a break and go take lilith to the park or something."
