It's been a while since I've done one of these, hasn't it? I'd like to say that it's because I haven't had anything to rant about, but I can't. I've had plenty, but it's the same old things. I don't think I've mentioned this topic yet, but if I have, oh well.
Why do people judge someone by a few of the musicians they like? I'd understand if they judged by all of the musicians, but not such a small amount. People think they can figure a person out by those few musicians the person likes, and you can't.
I'm saying this because my so called "friends" judge me every time they remember I like One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer. They remember and assume I'm like the over-the-top fangirls. And you know what? Truthfully, I do go over-the-top sometimes, but I'm not the person that stalks them 24/7, or the person that steals their boxers (although if it was there for the taking, I might), or the person that won't let the boys be alone on their day off. But everyone assumes that's me, because that's what they see online and in the magazines.
My "friends" will hang out with me and be my friend, but the moment 1D or 5SOS comes up they give me that look, and the conversations slowly stop. If they really liked me they wouldn't judge me based on that. And if they could get past their childness they would see all of the other musicians and music I like that really shows who I am. You've all seen my playlist, you know I don't just listen to 1D and 5SOS.
The songs I like are either upbeat and fun, or depressing. That's me, but people see the musicians that sing the songs and run before they can see the rest.
There's more to me than what they want to see. There's so much more to everyone else that gets judged by a few of the musicians they like. A fan of Justin Beiber can be a military buff. Someone who likes Fall Out Boy could be a fashionista.
If you look past the things you see at a glance and you really try to see the rest, you'll find out that people are a lot different than what's on the surface.
Don't judge people without knowing everything about them first!
(It hurts people a lot more than you think :\)
