Chapter 1 - New School, New Friends

The Hogwarts express was almost full by the time I got to the platform but I still quickly found an empty compartment. I sat down, staring out of the window. I had never wanted to come to Hogwarts, I wouldve been starting my fifth year at Ilvermorny and now I had to start it here, where I had no friends and had to put up with my brother who just happened to get lucky and survive a killing curse. I wasnt too upset to come to Hogwarts really, mainly because at Ilvermorny nobody got over how Harry Potter was a legend and how I was so lucky to be his sister.

Not really luck if you ask me, yet nobody ever did seem to ask.

I was hoping at Hogwarts everybody would be over it by now, considering the great Harry Potter had been a student there for five years.

I was rudely interrupted from my train of thoughts by a knock on the compartment window. I roll my eyes and stand up to open the door. I lock eyes with the last person I wanted to see. Harry Potter.

I didnt make any attempt to open the door so I sat back down and he let himself in followed by a brunette girl and a red-headed boy. We all sat in awkward silence, I was annoyed that I couldnt spend five minutes alone without having to think about my brother and I was also annoyed that his two friends seemed to know who I am. The brunette girl spoke first Hi, Im Hermione Granger, you must be Harrys sister. She said. Great.

Most unfortunately yes, I am the sister of the boy who lived. I replied with every ounce of sarcasm I could muster.

Hermione looked stunned so she didnt say anything Why did you decide to come to Hogwarts Leilah? Harry asked trying to start a conversation.

Didnt really have a choice, Dumbledore turned up at Ilvermorny near the end of last year, claimed the Dark Lord was back and said Id be safer at Hogwarts, I dont believe a word of it. I answered, he didnt seem too happy with my response. The red-headed boy then spoke Two questions, Im Ron by the way, He started, I raised an eyebrow Weasley? I asked noting the red hair, he nodded and continued Why do you call You-Know-Who the Dark Lord? He asked, it seemed all three of them had been wanting to know this I rolled my eyes I guess the same reason you call him You-Know-Who, everyone at Ilvermorny called him that so I guess I didnt really think about it, anyways what was your other question? I said hastily, this was really getting awkward Oh, it doesnt matter now.

I rolled my eyes, You three seem like you really want a private conversation, and to be honest I dont really want to be here so as much as I enjoyed this family reunion Harry, Im gonna go, see ya! and without waiting for them to reply I hurried of.

I wasnt looking where I was going and bumped into someone Watch where youre going! we both said I laughed

Draco Malfoy! He introduced himself

Leilah. I replied

Leilah what?

Thats for me to know and you to find out. I winked at him before walking off, hoping to find an empty compartment without being distracted this time.

I eventually found a compartment, sat inside was a girl with waist length, black, curly hair. Can I sit here? I asked Sure. She replied before looking out of the window Im Leilah. I said

Potter?

Most unfortunately, yes. I really need a better way to introduce myself. The girl laughed at my response Im Mara.

Lestrange? I asked, Mara shuddered slightly when I mentioned the name Most unfortunately, yes. She replied copying me How did you-

Im very observant, I replied frowning slightly Its probably why I didnt have many friends at Ilvermorny. I sighed

Ill be you friend, Im nothing like my parents so dont worry. She said quickly

I wasnt worried. We both laughed

So you went to Ilvermorny? I nodded That would explain the accent, I went to Beauxbatons, Ill be in fifth year.

Me too! Do you want to try and get in the same house?

Depends which house it is

Anywhere my brother isnt! I replied and we both started laughing, maybe this wouldnt be too bad after all.
