Chapter 2
The Nexus Feild
Abby landed and fell on her back. Screaming in pain she tried to stand but could not. She looked at her foot and it was twisted in a way that's not physically possible. "Hey you look like you need help!" A voice rang aloud. Abby looked around but saw no one.
Suddenly a big mouth popped out in front of her. The mouth was smiling a big ginormous smile. "'Ello I'm the Cheshire Cat." The mouth purred. Suddenly the mouth disappeared and a cat popped up but without a mouth! Abby gasped as the mouth, still smiling it's huge smile faded onto the cats face.
"And you must be Abby." He grabbed her hand and kissed it. She looked at the strange creature in surprise. "How do you know my name?" The cat froze then giggled nervously. "Why it's written in the book my dear." He mewed silently. "What book? And where am I?!" Abby demanded. "You are in the Nexus Field."
He blurted then put his paws over his mouth. After a moment he lowered them only to find himself blurting out more. "And the book is the creator of everything and everyone here. It says the law and if you break the rules of the book you get imprisoned and then beheaded by The Queen Of Hearts."
His voice stopped suddenly. His eyes widened and he disappeared. "You have broken The Law Of The Pages. You shall be brought to the Kingdom Of Cards to live out your punishment." A loud voice said from behind Abby which made her jump.
She turned around slowly and looked up to see a knight in black shiny armor with an upside down heart on his shield. Abby looked at him confused. "But sir, what have I done to break the law?" She asked, confusion clear in her voice.
"You have talked to the outlawed Cheshire Cat. It is illegal to talk to The Cat Whose Smile Comes First." The Knights voice boomed through his armor making him even more twisted and creepy than before. She stepped back but the knight grabbed her wrist and pulled her onto the horse. He pulled the reins and the horse started running, Abby's hair flowed in the wind. She squinted as she saw large pillars of red and pink brick and strained her neck to see the rest.
The knight chuckled. "Well I see The Towers Of Temptation can even hold a young girl against her own judgment." Abby blinked a couple times then stared at the pillars again and instead of beautiful red and pink pillars there were ugly pale brown towers in their place. She looked away in fear of what else may control her mind in that way.
The knight finally let go of Abby's wrist and she rubbed it, carefully tracing the red marks seethed into her skin from the Knights hard armor. "You will be put into court to see your punishment." He stated coolly. "Mr. Knight, person? Sorry for asking but... What did the Cheshire Cat do to become a fugitive?" She asked her voice cracking. Though she had just met the strange cat, she somehow felt protective over him.
"The Cat Who's Smile Comes First tried to escape from The Nexus Field. Which is against the law if you are a contracted citizen of The Nexus Field. He did not agree with the laws and so he tried change them, but got caught. He was to be beheaded but he dissolved into thin air." He said gruffly.
"What are some rules in this book?" Abby asked curiously. "On Monday you must wear red, on Tuesday you must wear orange, on Wednesday you must wear blue, on Thursday you must wear green, on Friday you must wear pink, on Saturday you must wear purple and on Sunday you must wear gold. If you don't wear those colors on the right day you get beheaded. Your so lucky it's Friday or you would be tried with two crimes!
"Every other Thursday you have to dye your hair a different color or else you will be hanged in the town centre. And one of my favorite rules in the book, women must wear their hair up Monday through Saturday, and they must wear their hair down on Sunday. Both women and men's roots of hair must be bleached white no matter what day it is."
"Those are some pretty weird rules." She said quietly. She stared at the blue grass and green sky and the auburn stars fading into black fluffy clouds and drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
