One day I just decided that I liked a guy. I didn't ever know why. Maybe it was just they way he smiled at my in the hallways or the cute way he teased me. But I plainly fell in love with him in the third grade. Third grade passed, but the boy I loved was not in my class. And then, a new girl came to school, Gabby. We were in class together. I was really excited that we were the only class with a new student. Gabby looked lonely a lot. She sat at lunch by herself and never had a parter for class projects. I felt really bad. And then I realized I had no friends when I moved to my new school, and how terrible it felt. So I decided to make her ny best friend with my glorious charm on the first week of school. We were outside lining up for school on a cold Thursday morning. Gabby was leaning up against the school's brick wall. She had her arms crossed and her legs were father away from the wall than her body was. She wore sneakers and a cute headband and a shirt that had a peace sign. She looked stylish I guess.
I jump straight in front of Gabby, being the person I am
"Hi! My name is Andréa."
"Hi my name is, uh, Gabby." I take her hand and shake it
"Nice to meet you Gabby. Since your the only new kid, I thought you needed some friends-so uh, here I am!" I smile as huge as possible trying to make a good impression but I'm actually really nervous. "So is there anything you'd like?"
"Not really...I mean well one thing," she pauses. "Will you show me around the school? Like who's who what room something is-"
"Sure. I'll just start now." I point to a boy with thick brown hair and a dark skin tone. "That's Ryder Panner. Every girl in school likes him."
"I think he's ugly," Gabby says with a disgusted face.
"To be honest, me too." Just then I hear a whistle blow. It's the teacher.
"Okay I need everyone to get in their class line. We will go in one class by one." The teacher announces when everyone is quiet. "Mrs. Ligouri' s class, go!" That was our class. Right before my life was ruined. Me and Gabby grab our back packs and start walking into the school and up the steps. Then she asked me that question. That dreaded question which I have always wished she had never asked me.
"Who do you like?"
I turn to her and smirk.
+ + + + + +
We walk into class together. I put my backpack away in my locker and so does Gabby. Good thing our lockers are right next to one another. I sit down right next to him. The boy that I like. I fix my hair quickly. I feel pretty today. I rest my head in my hand and start to write in my agenda. I feel someone watching me I look up. It's him. Alex. Well, that's his name, that I forgot to mention earlier. He stares at me and looks me in the eyes.
"Your eyes are bright." He says to me politely. I don't know if that is meant to be a flirt, but I hope not...
"They do look just like yours." I reply. I hope he doesn't think I am flirting with him. Alex blushes and smiles, quickly looking down. He strokes his blonde hair. And closes his eyes so that I can no longer see any sea blue color on his face. His eyes thought. They look just like mine. If no one knew any better they might've said we were siblings. I continue to write in my agenda book. I don't think he likes me honestly. But I hope that we can spend one day together. And I mean alone. I want to have my first kiss with him. I don't care who judges me for that, but I really hope that one day we will at least be friends.
Or will we someday be more than friends?
At this point we are in 5th grade. Gabby and I are in separate classes, but that's okay. I made a new friend in fourth grade. Ally. She's tall with long, straight brown hair and has braces. Today she has her hair in a ponytail and she is wearing a soccer Jersey with long black stretch pants. I sit in my seat awkwardly and look over to Ally. I feel my face turn red hot.
