Rhylea stops panicking and opens her eyes. She finds herself looking straight into my own red, glowing eyes. I bend my head down to look at the purple reptile I am carrying and smile, as I continue to fly over little towns filled with little people. I lift my head to look forward and say,
"Are you okay?" I sneak a glance at her when I can tell she isn't looking.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just pissed off about how long it took you to catch me. I saw my life flash past my eyes, thought I was gunna die." Rhylea looks around at the surrounding trees and clouds. "Actually, I'm not so mad anymore. But do tell me, where are we going?" a low chuckle makes is way out of my teeth.
"You'll find out soon enough." I can tell she is about to roll her eyes or make an unwanted comment, so I decide to dive. She closes her eyes again and tightens her grip on my forearms, her claws digging into my scales. I roar out in pain,
"RHYLEA, RELAX! YOU'RE GUNNA MAKE ME LOSE MY GRIP ON YOU!" I try to get a better hold on Rhylea's body, gently caressing her arms with my claws, trying to calm her down. I level out in fear of her panicking any more than she already is. I can feel her muscles loosen and I smile shyly, careful not to let her see me.
"Sorry, Quinn. I just don't like the idea of me being so high up and not being able to move my wings." I feel her shift her wings slightly. "It just doesn't feel right to me. Sorry again." I can hear her sigh quietly.
I look around and that's when I see our destination. When I see it clearly, I nudge Rhylea, careful not to shake her too much, and jerk my head in the direction of the massive waterfall. She looks over and opens her jaw wide in awe as she stares at the cascading colors of the water. I look down at Rhylea momentarily and say, "Hold your breath!"
Before she has a chance to ask why, I fly straight through the waterfall into the massive cave behind it, placing her gently on the stone floor before landing next to her, sweeping up a hurricane of dust and leaves. Rhylea finishes changing back into her human form a few seconds before I do.
On my two legs, I walk to the front of the cave where it turns into a slight cliff and sit on the very edge, dangling my legs over the side. Rhylea follows and sits down herself, though pulling her legs up to her chin and hugging her knees. She looks out into the water, admiring the array of colors.
"It's so beautiful here, Quinn. How did you find this place?" I look over at her; she looks right back, staring deep into my eyes, waiting for an answer. I smile and pull my legs up to turn and face her.
"It's kind of a long story. are you sure you want to hear it all?" she smiles whole-heartedly and turns to me, putting her legs down to cross them and puts her elbows on her knees, resting her chin in her hands. She says,
"Yes, I want to hear it all. Please, do begin." I laugh quietly and begin telling the story of Regrio Falls.
"Hundreds of years ago, there were people like us, people who had dragon genes in their blood. But they were thought of highly. Everybody knew about dragons, and they both feared them and highly adored them. They thought of the dragon people as gods. In the beginning, it was seven original dragons. Those seven being the colors of the rainbow." I gesture towards the waterfall that was pouring down the seven colors. I continue,
"red, the fire dragon; orange, the sun dragon; yellow, the dragon of harvest; green, the forest dragon; blue, the ice dragon, your kind," I put open hands towards Ryhlea. "Though your amazing purple hair deceives your origins; indigo, lunar dragon; and violet, the dragon of time. All seven dragons bred more of their kind, making an entire whole other world of our ancestors."
