Age six
I was grinning as I happily skipped down the sidewalk to my home. If you're wondering, I live in Wisconsin. I'm only 6, so I don't really have a job or anything. And if you're wondering, 'oh my god, why is this poor child out by herself?', well, I'm only walking home from school, my bus stop isn't that far, only a few minutes of walking.I ran home as fast as possible, a large grin on my face. I immediately raced to the computer and sat in front of the screen. The room was fairly dark, but I ignored that fact. The only thing I focused on was the screen that illuminated the room. The game that filled the screen.
Soon, the eery silence was cut off as I heard the ring of my house phone. I smiled as I hoped off the chair I sat cross legged on and ran over to the phone. It was in the kitchen, while I was in the dining room.
I struggled to reach the phone, but once I did, I smiled and brought it down to my ear. "Hi!" I squeaked into the phone, smiling. "Hello." A deep voice said, making me falter. "I'm afraid I have some bad news." I was now staring at the phone in my hand in utter confusion. "Your parents... They're dead."
Hours later
I packed all the things I could. I went into my big sisters room and took all the money I would find, same with my parents. I quickly ran outside. I knew they would be searching for me, I was a very smart kid. Smarter than the average, even.
