Jade awoke to the sound of distant sirens coming from the fire hall. She sat up and wiped the sleep from her eyes, glancing at her clock. It was only 1:30 in the morning, and the sirens seemed louder then ever. She grabbed her phone and turned it on, walking out of her room to check on her family. They were sound asleep, but her dog wasn't. The dogs tail was tucked under her as she hid in the corner whining.

"What is it girl?" Jade whispered to her dog, trying to coax her out from hiding. Something wasn't right. She glanced down at her phone and her eyes grew large with fear. she had twenty missed calls, five voice mails, and thirteen text messages all from her friend Ashton. Piper didn't bother to read or listen to any of the messages, but called right away. On the second ring Ashton picked up.

"Jade is that you?" Ashton asked in a hushed, panicked tone.

"Yeah. Ash, what in the hell is going on?" Jade asked, just as panicked.

"It's the end of the fucking world. You need to get out of there now! My parents are trying to get things together so we can leave." There was a slight pause. "Jade its the apocalypse!"

"What are you talking about? Ash you sound crazy. I mean I am sure..."

"There are huge dogs springing from fire pits that randomly form in the ground." Ashton cut Jade off.

"Holy shit you're not joking are you? Wait did you say fire pits?"

"Yes, that dogs are jumping out of!"

"Dogs jumping out of firey pits..." Jade mummbled to herself before she realized what they were. "Oh my god! Hell Hounds!!!"

"Anyway, you have to get out of there and fast! These creatures are fast and dangerous. Jade I saw them rip a police oficer to peices!"

"Calm down Ash!" Jade tried to talk over her friend. "Look, I'm getting my family up right now okay? I have to go. I promise I will keep in touch as best as I can. Alright?"

"Okay. You promise?"

"I swear."

"Alright. Call me later."

"I will." Jade ended the call and turend around. She had almost walked straight into her step-father. He had a tired, yet annoyed look on his face. Great, just what she needed right now. Before he can even say a word Jade knew what he was going to say. She didn't feel like getting yelled at, not with the current situation at hand.

"Look I know you're about to tell me off and get extreamly pissed with me. I don't have time for that. So can you just keep your mouth shut and hear me out? Just listen to me for a second so I can explain everything."

Her father didn't say a word. He only crossed his arms and stared at her. He had a look on his face that said her story had better be good. Jade sighed and started to explain everything. She told him about the hellhounds Ash had discribed. She told him about what they were capable of doing. The whole time he just stared at her, shaking his head.

"I don't have time for your bullshit. Have you not learned to quit lying?" He said once her explination was over.

"Dad!" She half screamed out of frustration. "Look at all these messages Ash! I mean seriously?! Do you not hear those sirens? I know you have problems hearing, but they are so loud!" She grabbed his arm and pulled him to her brothers room, pointing to the dog. "Do you not see her cowering in the corner? I'm telling you something isn't right. It's the apocalypse! Why won't you just listen to me this one time?!" Now she was irritated. The look her father gave her then threw her over the edge. He still didn't believe her! Just when she was about to explode, her mother called for him.
