Chapter 2 (Part 2): Announcement

After a long night of sleep, well it's not really long because i slept late and i just woke up at 7 am, i saw Elie, still sleeping by my side. She looked cute as always. Still as beautiful as the day i fell inlove with her. So i thought to myself, i should really remember her face, even though i get amnesia attacks, i should remember that this beautiful woman, is my girl.

We stayed like that for a few minutes until she wakes up. She sat up, half eyes closed and the first thing that comes out of her mouth are "How are you feeling, honey?". She didn't even bother to wipe the dried saliva off her cheeks, she straight up asked my condition.

I wiped her cheeks, then i answered "Yes, i'm alright, love. Good morning" as i smile at her.

She looked relieved, and then she stood up. She said that she'll be going to Dr. Jonathan to ask when i will be discharged.

She came back after a few moments, saying that i will be discharged at 12 noon. So we had breakfast from the hospital canteen. We finished eating at 8:30 am so we chatted about random things to kill time.

"Remember our classmate from 1st year, Samantha?" she suddenly said...

I laughed at her instantly, it seems that she had another chika that she'll spill today. So i listened to her, until all her stories are finished.

Elie and I discussed my condition because it was still too early for my scheduled discharge time. And we decided to inform my parents about my disease, because i never told them anything about me having alzheimer's disease.

At first, i objected the idea of us informing my family, due to various reasons. First is that i don't want them to worry about me, i don't want to be a burden on them.

Second, they are currently on Japan. We have a pretty big liquor business there and i'm afraid that they might panic and go home in a heartbeat after hearing the details of my condition. The company might suffer if that happens suddenly.

But Elie suggested a way that I can inform my family while avoiding that as well. So we ended up deciding that it's best to discuss this to my father, since he's the only person who has the mental stability to handle a news this big.

So we did. I video-called dad and he instantly picked the call up. "Hello? Yes? Anything you wanna say, son?" he spoke.

He still hasn't realize that i am in a hospital room, so i spoke calmly "Dad, i have something important to say, that you musn't tell mom and the others hastily."

He paused, looking all serious as he spoke again. "Are you in a hospital? Why? You got Elie pregnant? How many time have i told you that you should use protection while doing it? You better not be thinking of an abortion son, or else, i'll smack you"

Elie and i both laughed hard. My father looked confused so i immediately explained my situation.

"Look dad, i'm the one on the bed, so calm down for a bit. No one's getting a baby dad, no one's pregnant." i explained.

He looked relieved that his son is practicing abstinence... Or maybe he thought that i have been using protection. I don't know, but what's for sure is that he's glad that i am being a disciplined man. So i continued explaining.

"Remember, 6 years ago dad? I suddenly asked for an allowance raise?"

"Yeah son, you said that it was for your gimmicks. What about it?"

I took a deep breath, then i spoke. "Those never existed dad. I never went out to go drink in bars. Matter of fact, the raise i asked was too small for nightly gimmicks. The truth is i was using that for medications for my sickness."

"You're sick? What disease is that?" my father asked as soon as i finished talking.

"I have Alzheimer's disease, dad"

...

"Yeah? How're you feeling, son?" he said, after a long pause.

My father's the type of guy that cares so much, but is able to handle heavy situations calmly, that's why we chose to inform him first. At that long pause, he probably did everything to calm himself.

"Given the time span since in first happened as well as what the doctor have said, it's gotten pretty worse. Bit the medication's doing it's job on slowing the process down." i replied.

Dad took a deep breath, seemed to be holding tears, trying to stay composed. Then he starts speaking again. "So, what's your plan? I want to hear it since your old enough to decide on your own. I won't go against it, i'll support it in every way i can" he said, while still holding his tears back.

"Well, i would like to graduate first, and then i would like to enjoy the remaining days with the money i have earned from doing part time jobs these past 4 years. And we would like to visit you guys there after our graduation too." i said, expecting that my life wouldn't be long.

Dad took another deep breath, then he spoke. "Ok, if that's what you like, i'll support that, as your dad. But, i'll be increasing your allowance so you can save more money for your dates with Elie and such." he paused for a bit, and then continued "Nope, you can't object, i will be increasing your allowance. And also, i'll be the one to inform your mother about this matter, so just worry about your studies and your own condition. I love you, son, stay safe"

"Thank you dad, i'll be sure to be safe until i visit you guys there." i replied. "That's all, thanks for the time dad, i love you" i added, as i end the call.
