Back in Erzurum.....
Reyhan was a small town girl, who hailed from the mountains of Erzurum. Her mother had just passed away, her Dayi Uncle Hikmet had arrived from Istanbul(mother's brother) and was convincing her to come stay with him and his family in Istanbul. Hikmet had always admired his sister's courage and the way she brought up Reyhan. Reyhan was bought up Impeccably well. She was a very beautiful, kind, generous, brave Soul. Who from a very young age dealt with a lot of heart ache. Hikmet wanted to ensure that she was happy and safe.
Reyhan wasn't quite sure how His wife and kids would react to a stranger coming in to their house. Hikmet's family never really kept in touch with her mother. Hence she was apprehensive about going to Istanbul.
A few days letter, after many pleas, she decided that she would go. Hikmet was extremely happy and already had started the ball rolling. He ensured her that she will continue to pursue her studies. Therefore he enrolled her into the university, to do her masters to become an architect.
Back in Tarhun mansion, celebrations were in full force. Emir Hikmet's son had decided that he was going to marry Cemre. Javidan Hikmet's wife was thrilled. As she had always wanted Cemre as her daughter in law as she was from a very rich and influential Family.
Emir, on the hand couldn't care less. He wanted his mother off his back. Emir had known Cemre since they were kids. He wasn't fond of her her and neither was he attracted to her. He simply said yes, so that his mother would stop interfering in life.
The day of the engagement had arrived and Hikmet was missing as he was in Erzurum. Suhayla Hanim Cemre's mother,was furious that Hikmet wasn't there. She was consoled by Javidan, who made it clear to her that Hikmet will reach by the evening and attend the engagement.
Hikmet's Arrival
Hikmet arrived at the mansion and was surprised to see all the people gathering and congratulating him on his Sons engagement. Hikmet was displeased with Javidan. She had organised an engagement without informing him. But then he thought well if Emir is happy, then so be it. Atleast he thought that Emir would learn to take more responsibilities.
Javidan took one look at Hikmet and was surprised to see Reyhan walking beside him. Reyhan was introduced to every one in the family. Suna Emir's younger sister, was extremely pleased to meet Reyhan, for she had always heard about this girl. Hikmet mentioned Reyhan's name over and over again. Suna had always heard about Reyhan's stories and successes. She was very glad to meet her, she thought finally there was someone of her age that she could talk to.
As for Emir, he hated Reyhan with a passion. Though he never met her, his father boasted about her successes all the time. He hated being compared to her. Whenever he was scolded by his father, he would always take Reyhan's name and use her as an Example. Emir And Suna had met Reyhan when they were children. But they were very young. whenever Hikmet wanted to take the children to Erzurum Javidan had always turned her nose up at his invitation. Hikmet never broke his ties, however he was disappointed that his children never got to visit his family back in Erzurum.
Emir's bedroom
Emir was in his bedroom With his Best Friend and colleague Zafer. Zafer wanted to know why Emir was going ahead with this Engagement. He asked him again and again. He just couldn't understand that Emir for the sake of his mother could marry someone as artficial like Cemre.
Suna and Melike (house help) was showing Reyhan around the house. Suna then suggested they knock on Emir's door and see if he is ready. Suna knocked on the door, and Zafer opened the door, greeted them and allowed the ladies to come in.
