So today were going to talk about the famous scene of Langa, and Langa's mom talk about Reki.
The scene starts with the two eating dinner, as Langa tries to start the conversation.
He starts talking about how he messed up breaking the promise, to which his mom says he should be honest with his feelings.
To which Langa asks in confusion "honest?"
And Nanako replies "you like this person, right?"
The "like" is indeed used in a romantic sense, since the word "suki" in Japanese is very commonly used in a romantic sense. If talking about objects it's obviously more "platonic" but when about a person it's used in a romantic sense, and you will never really hear anyone using it in a platonic meaning when referring to a person.
Langa's reaction obviously means he knows his mom ment it in a romantic sense, since he blushes, a little shocked probably about how openly his mom asked about a thing like that, then quietly and shyly responds with "yes", looking away.
Then his mom says that he should share those emotion, to whish Langa says it's embarrassing, still shy.
After that, his mom says that if he likes her, he should act on it, to which Langa in confusion asks "her?" since Reki is a boy, and his mom didn't know that.
So in conclusion, Langa's crush on Reki is canon, even if not said openly by creators on an interview or something, but it's clearly showed in the show.
Oh, and funny thing to mention, crunchyroll posted the dub version of this moment, titling it "Langa has " the talk" with his mom" lol
So yea, next chapter I'll talk about ep. 9
