As I walked through the fourth floor hallway, everyone smiled as they walked past me, and I smiled back, because I am an amazing CEO, obviously.
Even though I had slight...anger issues.
There were a few comfortable arm chairs infront of my large office, and I immediately saw the supposed man that parked in my spot. I had never seen him around before.
Once he heard my heels clicking towards my office, he lifted his head, and oh. my. God. The lightest shade of caramel brown looked up into my eyes. He had brown hair, slightly darker than his eye colour. Something was oddly familiar about him.
I put on my best smile, but he seemed unfazed by it. "Give me a few minutes to set up, and then we can talk, hm?" I said, as I turned my head towards my office doors and walked past him in one swift move.
I knew he got a decent whiff of my scent. Coconuts and vanilla, and a hint of citrus. I glanced back at him before stepping into my office, and he had his head turned towards me.
As soon as I was in my office, I scoffed. What did he possibly want with me? I set my shoulder bag down on my desk, turned my computer on, and instantly lit a candle, like I always did.
"I'm ready for you now, sir," I smiled, as I opened the doors to my office. He nodded and stood up. God, he was gigantic. So tall. But he was probably just a client that had something to do with my other more important clients.
"Please, take a seat." I smiled, gesturing to the leather arm chair, that was in front of my desk. I sat down in my own desk.
"So," I looked down at my shoes and leaned back in my chair.
"Who the hell are you and why are you parked in my spot, when you fully know that it is always reserved for me?" I narrowed my eyes at him, as he leaned back as well, spreading his legs slowly. I ripped my eyes away from his legs, and stared at him.
"You know who I am." He took out a cigarette, and I stared.
"No smoking, and no I don't-" I scoffed, before he interrupted me.
"Lucian Miles." He said dryly, admiring my expression.
My expression swiftly changed from confusion, to shock, to anger. I quickly stood up, speed walked over to his chair and grabbed him by his shirt collar. His eyes widened, and I shoved him against the wall.
I breathed heavily. So did he. In the process of me throwing him against the wall, he had dropped his cigarette. I walked over and stomped on the cigarette. "What the fuck are you doing here, you cunt!?" I yelled at him,
"I want to partner up with your company." He stared at me intensely. So did I.
"What?!" I yelled.
"So you came here for a partnership and not to apologize?!" It was clear that my words struck him.
He was staring at me. Fucking hell. Did he really forget how much he bullied me?
"Do you not remember?" I whispered, my voice breaking. Tears were threatening to fall.
"I do. And, fuck, I am so, so, so sorry." His face relaxed and his expression turned into a slightly upset one.
"No." I scoffed. "Do not give me that shit!" I walked up to him, before slapping him as hard as he used to kick me everyday at school.
"Get the fuck out!" I yelled, pointing towards the doors. He was holding his cheek. "Please, just, think about it. This would be amazing for our companies." He said, confidently, before walking out.
As soon as he walked out, I broke down. I was sitting on the floor, sobbing my eyes out. How dare he come back? Into my life? After all these years?
-
It had been a few hours since Lucian, my old highschool bully, came to see me. He told me he wanted to partner up with my company. His company and mine. No. Never.
I was walking to my meeting that was in about ten minutes, and my high heels clicked throughout the halls. I was holding my iPad, and my notebook. And I had my shoulder bag with me.
I just wanted to get this meeting over with. Someone that was on a phone call and was standing near the meeting room door opened the door for me. I nodded quickly, in a way to say thank you.
I sat down in my usual spot, at the front of the long, mahogany table. As soon as everyone got into the meeting room, I didn't hesitate to start.
"Hello, and good afternoon, everyone," I was standing. I always stood, to begin the meeting. Everyone chimed in a soft 'good afternoon' together, in unison.
If I'm being completely honest, I had no idea what this meeting was about. But I'm pretty sure it was just the weekly 'thoughts and updates on the company' meeting.
"Uhm, Miss Lovelock?" A woman with light blonde shoulder-length hair raised her hand, while she looked through her notes.
"Mm, yes?" I looked up from my own notes. "We have received information that the famous clothing company boss, Lucian Miles, would like to partner up with our company?" She set her hand down, and I sighed.
I cleared my throat, as the others turned their heads from the lady that just spoke, to me. I leaned back in my chair. "Yes, that is true. But I do not think that that is a good idea." I looked down, breaking eye contact with the other meeting members.
Some people scoffed and 'tch-ed'. "But ma'am, this would be really good for your company." A balding man looking up at me, and the others agreed. Well, it was one against nine.
I had no choice but to agree to this 'partnership'. I would definitely regret this. "I suppose... you are correct," I narrowed my eyes.
"I will partner up... with him." I stood up, preparing to leave. Everyone smiled at me, before several people also got up to leave. The small notetaker that always sits next to me quickly stood up, hurrying over to me.
"Uh, ma'am, permission to send today's meeting notes to Mr. Lucian Miles?" He looked up from his blinding iPad screen. I nodded, hesitantly.
But, little did Lucian Miles know, I will not be working with him unless I get a written apology. I walked out of the room, and took the elevator down to the first floor.
"Lock my office up for me, please, Vivian?" I asked kindly. She nodded and I immediately walked out. God, it had gotten cold. It was only five PM. Alexa said it would be warm today. Can't believe she lied to me.
I got in my car and drove home, dreading tomorrow, because tomorrow I knew that he, Lucian Miles, would probably be waiting at my office tomorrow morning.
