Afterglow

How it all started

Melody met with Steve after the blip. When everyone came back 5 years later, she became close friends with Steve's best friend Bucky.

And then one day;

Melody was outside of Tony's lake house with Steve. "You're going to come back." she said with a worried voice. "Yes, love. I'm going to come back, promise." Steve said clearly.

He was going to return the infinity stones and come back. He was standing on the machine with infinity stones and Thor's hammer in his hands. Bruce was getting ready, Sam and Bucky were also there. Before he goes, "Melody, I love you." said. A minute or two passed Bruce couldn't tell what was happening, Melody started to panic and "Where is he Bruce? What's happening? What's wrong? Why is he not back?" she asked. Bruce looked down while shaking his head, "I'm sorry." he said.

"NO! No. This is not true. He will be back. He will be back! He promised." Melody started crying and she fell on her knees. Bucky ran to her, holding her tight. She let out everything. "He said he loved me. He promised.", Bucky was feeling her pain as much as her. Steve left her, he left her for Peggy. He broke his promise but Bucky, Bucky was there for her as always. He left Bucky too.

"Don't worry doll, I got you. I'm always here, whenever you need me." Bucky said while gazing into her eyes.

"Thank you Bucky. Thank you for always being there for me." Melody held his face in her hands as she talked with a low voice. A part of both wanted to kiss each other but they both didn't have the strength at that moment.

They only put their foreheads together as Bruce and Sam leave to give them some space.
