Lunette woke up once more. It was a lot later than when she first talked to Evan, at least 11 hours later, and it was already 5:00 in the morning. Lunette saw someone sitting next to her bed, it was a nurse who was replenishing her IV bag.

"Why good morning, did you have a nice rest?" The nurse asked.

"U-um yeah, thanks." Lunette stuttered back, still a little dazed from her sleep.

Once she rubbed the sleepiness out of her eye, Lunette could finally see the woman clearly, well as clearly as you could with only one eye. Lunette recognized that she was the woman who got her out of the car just by her voice, because she hadn't been able to see very well at the car incident. The woman had light caramel hair in a messy bun, and bright pink eyes like the neon lights on the side of a convieneve store, but at least 10 times prettier.

She had slight worry on her face, as she looked down on Lunette, but it wss barely noticeable. "Hello, my name is Vinette."

"I'm Lunette." Lunette replied.

Vinette giggled. "I know that already silly. Evan told me on his way out, you know. Everything is kept in the records."

She thought about that. "W-wait a second," Lunette started." I don't have any money, who's going to pay for my recovery in the hospital? Did Martha and Donavin?"

Vinette shook her head. "I'm afraid your caretakers died immediately when the car first made impact on the ground after the barrel roll it took. You're lucky to have lived. You could almost say that an angel was looking down on you, because you should've died in that car accident."

Lunette tried not to feel hurt about the "you should've died" part. I mean, the calculations were true, and the chances of her even living had been slim, but here she was, still alive. Lunette still wondered though, " Sooooo, if my caretakers aren't paying for my recovery, then who is?"

Vinette hesitated to tell her, but after a while, she said, "A man walked in to the hospital last night. He had on a broad rimmed hat, so I couldn't tell who he was, but he said "Here." And laid down a couple hundreds on my desk. I asked what for, and he just said "To pay for Lunette's recovery. The girl on the 5th floor, room 420." I remember being so dazed, I hadn't realized that he'd walked out the front door until he was gone and out of sight."

Lunette pondered. Her mind swirled with so many questions about the man in the wide brimmed hat. Was he related to her? Was the man her father? Why had he appeared so out of the blue? Lunette started feeling tired again just from thinking about it.

Vinette interupted her thoughts when she said, "I'll go get you some food. You must be hungry. By the way, I think your in good enough condition to walk around a little bit. Feel free to do so but I advise you don't go outside of the hospital room!"

"Oh, th-thank you!" Lunette called out as Vinette walked out the door, shutting it right behind her. Now Lunette was left alone to her own devices. Vinette would probably take a little while to get the food, so she decided to watch some TV. Lunette had never used a TV before, but just by watching Martha and Donavin use one back at the orphanage, she had caught on and was able to switch from channel to channel.

She settled on a documentary about wolves and their tendency to howl at the moon. It made Lunette feel melancholy, but for no reason that she knew of. She decided to turn it off because it made her a little sad. She sat in silence for a long while, until she heard a small noise. Someone was humming. She listened closer and found where it came from.

It was Jasper, and he was humming a song. Rue's Lullaby! Lunette thought, though she had no idea how she knew the name. That was the first time she had ever gotten to catch a glance at what Jasper looked like. He had his back to her, but she could see his hair slicked back into pointy ends at the back of his head and his short figure. After listening to him hum for some time, Lunette started to softly sing along. "Deep in the meadow, under the willow, a bed of grass a soft green pillow, lay down your head and close your sleepy eyes, and when again they open the sun will rise. Here it's safe and here it's warm, and here the daisies guard you from all harm, Here your dreams are sweet, and tomorrow brings them true, here is the place, where I, love you~"
