Tuesday

I arrive at work, ready to give my all and take it all.

My outfit for the day is a white baggy T-shirt with letters inscribed.
The artwork on the T-shirt looks like the painting of a one-year-old, with words that look like noodles.
My mom jeans are faded blue and fitted on my legs.
There is nothing sexier than a lady who is revved up and super confident to present herself.
I walk along and notice my boss, Miss Salvadora Tierney.
"Good morning ma'am," I greet.

"Good morning Ruby dear," she replied with a charming smile.
"Love your spirit. Keep up the good work!"

She was walking with undeterred speed as she spoke. My eyes lit up.
"Thank you, Ma'am!" I yelled.

Miss Salvadora is always on her heels, ensuring that working conditions are in a good state.

She is a notable figure in the country and is the owner of two business ventures.
Snack Rush Emporium is her baking store.
There, snacks and confectionaries are baked or fried for consumption. The choice of production is mostly flour-based and lightly sweetened.
However, Eaters and Meaters is a restaurant that is established to avail the citizens with healthy and nourishing food.
The restaurant is known for its high-class and noteworthy cuisines.
Here, we have cultural and continental dishes prepared.
Not just dishes—healthy dishes.

This is remarkable because it allows lots of consumers to explore.

The table menu is invigorating.

Lasagna.

Paella Valenciana.

Chana Masala.

Deli Sauce—which contains the African scent leaf, tomatoes, and mackerel.

The popular Jollof Rice.

And a lot of other tasty varieties!
Thinking about these meals gets me a little hungry so, I go over to the kitchen department to get something to chow.
"Hi Ruby," Freya said as I entered.
Freya was in charge of the meal preparations and the overseer of the cooks.
Let's just say she's the HEAD CHEF.
Freya was adorned in her white overall, a white hat covering her head, almost looking like a snowman glorying in winter.
"Howdy Freya! Mmm—what's that aroma?" I asked.
Saliva was building with intensity in my mouth.

The smell of the food made my tummy growl even more.
"It's chicken chili sauce. You can have it with rice or a baguette or any other crazy food combo your heart's been yearning for."

She was sprinkling spices into the cooking pot. I rushed to her side.
The sauce was red like that of a fresh lobster. I noticed shrimps and mushrooms in bits and pieces.
"The sauce is all done. Wanna have some?" Freya asked.

"Yes please," I said

We laughed over my reply and she dished a meal for me.
Freya pulled a cushioned stool for me to sit on.
I sat and munched my meal.
I thanked her after and went back to my corner.
My duty was to keep checks and tabs on items—the foodstuff, the inventory, and the wares.

I had track records and tables of accounts to show and the end of stock checks.
I passed the reception area which was a stone's throw from my cubicle.
As I moved further to my office lane, I sighted Martin coming up ahead.
I didn't want to meet with him so I increased my pace.
'Hey— he said as I opened the door but I shut it just in time.
No hard feelings but I wasn't ready to mince words with that guy.

I pranced around in my office for a while. You know the drill—we major on positive vibes!
Lol! It is imperative to be in a happy state of mind, and I, Ruby Del Santana, don't joke with that one bit.

I am committed to success.
I am an agent of change.
I exude positivity.
I am peace. Peace is me.

I affirm this every day.

Affirmations are channels to success. I believe this because, even when I don't feel like what I say about myself, what I say stands.
That is the beauty of positivity.

I rush to my chair and run over the paperwork that needs review.

Our company is great on the part that we have working capital and great turnover at the same time.
It is not surprising that our company rakes in a lot of money.
Eaters and Meaters have a substantial amount of prospective and returning consumers.

The brand is built on trust, which explains the loyalty of its customers.

I run through a balance sheet to ascertain assets and track liabilities.

I notice an error. It is so well placed and is not likely to be noticed.
The amount is made for drawings on the company's behalf.

I pick up the black telephone on my work desk and dial Sadie. Sadie is next to Martin.
Martin is the general manager whose role is to manage funds, tax, and allocate resources.

Sadie, however, is responsible for creating the tables of accounts.

These two are a good match since they had a good financial education.
Our boss, Miss Salvadora, believes in checks and balances, so she requested that I run through the sheets for effectiveness.

Sadie had refused such, saying it was an indirect insult to her accounting prowess. She presses on the fact that I was only a high school graduate with a couple of online courses who had luckily gained a job.

Miss Salvadora didn't mind her and told me to go ahead. Of course, Sadie believed I could not comprehend accounts and figures, but boy, was she wrong.

The telephone rang,  but I didn't get any response.

I dialed the number again. Still, no response.

I decided to call up Martin.

The beep rang twice before he picked.
"Good morning Martin,"

"Good morning Del Santana. How can I help?"

"Okay. I'm calling Sadie to notify her of an error in the balance sheet for the previous month. She isn't answering."

"An error in funds?"

"Yes. The drawings." I said

"Hold on, please."

I heard the taps on the keyboard through the phone. I loved that sound. Martin was fast while doing so, you would think he was playing on the keyboard with his fingers.

"Okay. I see. The initial amount doesn't correspond. You've got good eyes."

"Thank you," I said.
It was Martin's first time to hand me an actual compliment without sounding condescending.

I once demanded the storekeepers rearrange the food stock differently.
Martin pranced into the area and was dazed by the changes.
"Good job Del Santana. A bit amateurish but still, good job."

"Sadie will have to explain the excess in the error and also apologize for incompetence and tardiness."

That meant that Sadie was not at the office yet. I glanced at my watch. It was two minutes till ten o'clock!
"All right then. Have a good day." I said then hung up.
