"Where'd you g-" I start to ask. "Nowhere." He cuts me off once more.
I raise my eyebrow.
"Okkkk then.." I say ignoring it. "It's a surprise." He says telling i was starting to be suspicious of him. "Oh ok" I say still confused.
We finish shopping and Jaden drops me off at my house. "Bye jade i love you" I say getting out of the car. "Bye i love you too." He smiles, leaving once i get inside the house.
When I get in my room, i call javon.
"Hey javon"
"Hey"
"So has jaden been acting weird to you lately?"
"no? why"
"He's been acting weird to me"
"probably because he likes you"
"What? no he doesnt"
"yes he does"
"says who"
"says me"
"i don't believe you"
"fine ask him yourself"
He hangs up.
"Wha-" Of course he doesn't like me. Right? There's no way. He's way out of my league. I'll ask him tomorrow I guess.
• THE NEXT DAY •
Jaden comes over to my house. I open the door and smile. "Hi jade" "Hi" he says walking in.
We go up to my room and I get straight to the point avoiding myself from backing out.
"um jaden" "yeah?" he says turning my direction. "Do you um like me?" I ask nervously. He immediately freezes and his eyes widen. "Um who said that" he asks with a shaky voice. "Javon" I say. "I'm gonna beat his a-" he starts. "So you do?" I cut him off. He sighs and sits on the bed beside me. "Yeah." He says hesitantly. "But you don't like me back do you."
I didn't know what to say. He's always been there for me. I did feel some type of way about him. I think i like jaden.
"It's okay." He sighs, standing up. "No jaden wait!" I yell, stopping him from walking out. "I do like you." His blank face turns into a smile. "Really?" He asks. I nod my head.
"How long have you liked me?" I ask. He turns to look at me before slightly smiling. "since kindergarten." He says. I was so shocked i couldn't even speak. "I dated ava so i could try to let you go but i just couldn't." He says.
• KINDERGARTEN FLASHBACK •
I was playing on the swings when all of a sudden the big bully showed up. "Get off" He said to me.
"But i was on first." I say sadly. "I said get off." he came closer too me. His breath smelt horrible.
I just stared at him. "I'm not gonna tell you again. get. off." He says for the last time. I refuse. He goes behind the swing. I thought he was leaving. I thought wrong.
I feel a heavy hand being placed on my back. Next thing you know i'm on the ground.
"HEY!" A voice shouts. "LEAVE HER ALONE" "Or what?" The bully shouts back. "or this." The kid says before punching the bully straight in his mouth.
"OW!" The bully says before running off. "That's what i thought" He says watching the bully run. He turns to me. "Are you okay?" He asks helping me up. I nod with my head down. "Thank you" I say quietly. "No problem" he says.
I go to sit on the bench and he follows me. "What's your name?" He asks me. "Jenisis" I say not looking up. "Jenisis. jenny" he says. "What?" I ask. "Jenny. Short for jenisis." He smiles at me. "My names Jaden." He says. I nod. "Jade" I say.
I still haven't looked up at him so he looks down at me. "Oh no, your crying!" He says. He lifts my chin up and uses his sleeve to wipe my tears. "Don't cry. People like that aren't worth the tears.
I smile and finally look up at him. When he sees me his eyes widen.
