The Door

Chapter 2

Since Ben arrived, the evening has taken on a whole new flavour, and his presence makes things so much better. You decide to have your third and final drink to celebrate.

As for Ben he's had a few, just enough to get drunk and you love it when he does.He's a funny person when he's sober but when he's got a drink or two in his blood it's different.You sing and dance with him in the middle of the others and it's like the world has stopped spinning.Like you and him are  the only people in the world.You feel so good

You're a little tired from your dance session with Benedict, so you decide to take a rest and sit down.He joins you on the outdoor couch and sits down next to you, really close. Your mind is a mess as you realise how close you are.He rests his arm on the armrest behind your shoulders and looks at you.

"The trip made me a little tired, but now I'm fully awake" he says with a laugh

"I'm glad you're enjoying the evening" you say with a smile

"I'm especially happy to see you again" he says, looking into your eyes

*His gaze could liquefy me but I can't look away

You blush at his words,

"I'm glad you're here too, I, um... I thought for a moment I wouldn't see you"

He reacts a little surprised, "Really? Why did you think that?" he said with a slightly worried look on his face.

"I don't know... I thought that... That maybe you didn't have time, or... or that you'd forgotten" You see who doesn't answer, he's a bit surprised, so you continue,

"I thought maybe you had better things to do, after all I'm only a friend and..."

"Well, no, you're not just a friend to me _____ You mean a lot to me. I know I should have called you more often but I didn't and I feel bad about that, I really do."He puts his hand on your cheek and strokes it slowly with his thumb.

"I was just afraid of being too intrusive, of disturbing you, I know your tour has kept you very busy, and I didn't want to add to it"

You put your morning on her thigh and slowly caress her, saying:"You'll never bother me Ben, you mean a lot to me too, but I must admit I was afraid you'd forget me.Your eyes darken a little from sadness and he notices.

"I could never forget you ____, you have been on my mind since the day I met you. I..."

Judah comes in telling you that the cake is ready to be eaten and that you need to come and blow out your candles.

"Can it wait five minutes? I'd like to finish my conversation with..."

Ben cuts you off, "No no, let's go that's fine, we'll finish it later!" he says smiling nervously

You feel a little frustrated that he decides to postpone your discussion but you hope that it will continue.So you get up and walk over to the big table and sit down at the end of the table. The place of the king, or rather the queen as they say.Ben is seated just to your right, everyone sings the song to wish you a happy birthday, the cake is brought out and you blow out your candles.

After that everyone applauds and asks you for a speech.

"Oh, you guys know I'm not comfortable with that" you say embarrassed.
