A New Day Will Dawn

"Number 14, given, you're up."

Mafuyu exhales and taked a deep breath. He rests his left hand on the guitar's fret and his right on the strings. The lights are off, but the stage has a blue look to it.

"Come on, get started." a blue haired guy in the audience says. "He's really building up to it." the blonde guy next to him says.

Mafuyu exhales once again and Ue, Haruki and Akihiko are ready to play. All that's left is for Mafuyu to start singing so the rest of the band can join in.

"Even if I can't sleep, a new day will dawn
I'll be watching the sun as it rises up,"

Ue gradually turns on his guitar volume and Akihiko, Haruki and Mafuyu join in. The lights shine yellow and the crowd has their attention on given. Mafuyu strums his guitar while the ground slightly vibrates.

"Even though the wall remains unchanging,"

Akihiko opens his eyes wide. "What was that just now?"

"The morning sun lights up, the clock keeps ticking,"

Akihiko keeps playing the drums. "This feeling... it's almost like..." He remembers Ugetsu playing the violin.

"I seem to be moving away from our memories
I've remembered all over again, will I ever move on?"

The lights change to blue. Haruki plays the bass and Ue plays along on his guitar. The audience watches and dances along.

"But honestly right now I just wanna get to tomorrow
And end this night..."

"Seriously?" Akihiko asks himself. He plays the drums and cymbals as the song is getting close to the chorus.

"Even if I can't sleep, a new day will dawn
I'll be watching the sun as it rises up,"

"How long has it been since I got goosebumps like this?" Akihiko asks himself again.

"Things are changing, things are beginning and things are ending,"

"When did I start hating music?" Akihiko asks himself once again.

"Even though you're gone I keep on living on,"

"I loved it so much." Akihiko pictures Ugetsu making fun of him playing the violin. "But when I heard Ugetsu play for the first time, I had the same goosebumps I have right now."

"I don't know if I'll ever be able to move on

"Yeah... I love music." Akihiko says. The lights turn blue again and the crowd moves their heads in rythym.

"It blossoms in the spring and withers in the fall,"

"When I saw their preformance last time, I had a feeling that if he had some kind of trigger, he could really turn into something." Ugetsu says to himself in the crowd.

"But somehow it sprouts all over again
Each time less and less small,"

"Oh, I see... so he's the one." Ugetsu looks at Haruki, given's bassist.

"I realized that it's not about the things that I have gone through
But what's to come,"

Mafuyu strums his guitar and presses the frets according to the chords. He starts to feel tired, as he's been playing both the guitar and singing too, but he will sing to let the message that he spend working hard on to be heard by the audience.

The crowd bops their heads in rythym and the bright yellow lights shine on given as Mafuyu sings and plays the chorus. Mafuyu's voice makes everyone enjoy the show a second time, but this time, with a new song he's written. Mafuyu stops singing and catches his breath a bit. Ue plays his guitar solo. His fingers play every note perfectly as they travel through the frets closest to the bridge of the guitar. It resonates through the speakers and the lights change again.

"When we have a wish we don't know will come true we call it hope
We give it a brand new meaning,"

"Over and over, I've thought about what I'd do if Akihiko never came back. No matter how many times I thought about it, I couldn't imagine it clearly. I'd think he'd suddenly come home tomorrow... or maybe not, but at the same time, I want this pain to end just as much." Ugetsu told Mafuyu one day. "But at the same time, I don't want all the things filling this room to disappear. Maybe something will remain. Even if we can never be the same again...Even if we go somewhere far away...I hope at least the music will remain."

"It'll be okay. You'll be able to go wherever you want. Let this reach you!" Mafuyu says in his inside voice.

"After a long night
I discover the light
Now everything will be alright."

Given plays their last seconds of their song and finish strong. The lights go back to how they were in the beginning and the crowd cheers, claps and whistles. Mafuyu catches his breath and sweat falls from the sides of his face. He looks at the floor and then at the microphone.

"Thank you so much."
