Kyra and Kaiden sprinted through the streets. Everyone seemed to have a different reaction to the alarm. Some were curious like Kyra and Kaiden, some ran away in fear, and some ignored it. Kyra was more of the daring type, she plowed her way through the crowd, Kaiden trailing behind in her wake, his blue eyes scanning everyone he passed. Defenders were pouring into the street.

All of the Defenders wore the same thing, full body protection. All in one color, black. They seemed to know where they were going, so naturally Kyra headed towards them.

The Defenders were all fully equipped with weapons. Kyra ran next to one and looked at his gun that hit his thigh repeatedly. Her fingers stretched out to grab it, but everyone had come to a sudden halt. Kyra pushed through the crowd to see what everyone had stopped for. In the very center of town, there was a Spark. A big one. This guy had dark skin, and dark eyes. His hair was in a military cut and he held out his hands like a caged animal.

Everyone had crowded around him in a big circle, no one broke the circle. The guy look around at everyone, sweat was visible on his forehead. One of the Defenders stepped forward. "STAY BACK!" The guy bellowed and whipped his hand at the guy. A green blast of energy shot out from his hand and hit the Defender straight on in his chest. The Spark panted.

"Dylan, by order of Lord Crosby you are to surrender to our forces." A Defender told him. Dylan shot a ball of green light at the Defender who spoke and everyone jumped out of the way of the energy. Dylan looked drained, like he wasn't used to doing this activity. A Defender standing next to Kyra pulled out his gun and pointed it at Dylan. Dylan opened his palm at the Defender, but his eyes rolled back in his head and he crippled to the ground.

Kyra heard the bullet click into place and the Defender pointed the gun at the Spark, Dylan. Kyra did something she never thought she would do. She jumped...in front...of the gun.

"Kyra no!" Kaiden shouted. Kyra stood in front of the Defender, her chest heaving in and out. Dylan moaned and rolled over on the ground. Kyra looked at the Defender right in his eyes, or where she thought his eyes were, all Defenders wore a bullet proof helmet that had shaded over their eyes, so she was guessing as to where his eyes were.

"You want to shoot him, you're going to have to go through me. If you shoot an innocent, you're no defender." Kyra fumbled around in her brain for the right word to say. Something that would really sting. Something that would be against everything they stand for. "You're a terrorist."

The Defender's posture went rigid. A few other Defenders took out their weapons and pointed them at Kyra. It was a stalemate, but Kyra was glad to at least have that. "Listen..." The Defender trailed off.

"Kyra."

"Kyra, you can't go jumping in front of guns playing the hero all the time. You're going to get hurt." Kyra merely narrowed her eyes. "Look, just move out of the way and let me do my job. No one has to get hurt."

Kyra let off an obviously fake laugh. "HA! No one gets hurt you say? What about the kid you're going to shoot? Will he not get hurt?" Kyra crossed her arms. "I'll let you in on something, if you shoot someone, they do get hurt. I know, mind blown right?" Kyra said sarcastically.

Slowly, the position of the gun in the Defender's hand moved away from the Spark, Dylan. It moved so that it was pointed at Kyra's face. Kyra's mouth was ajar. "KYRA!" Kaiden shoved his way into the circle. The Defender's gun moved to point at him. Kaiden froze. A slight breeze kicked up and ruffled Kaiden's blond hair.

Another alarm blared, there was more Spark activity. Kyra was confused. "Kyra, when I say go, take the Spark and go to where we always go. No buts." Kaiden hadn't stopped looking at the Defender. All around the circle, Defenders were drawing their weapons. A dozen bullets clicked into place. Kyra was confounded.

"Kaiden what do you mean? I'm not going to leave you here." The alarm stopped blaring and Kyra tried to read Kaiden's face, but he had a poker face. He slowly raised his hands up and all the guns were pointed at him. Kyra was just so shocked. She had almost forgotten about Dylan. Kaiden shifted his glance to Dylan.

"Kyra I need you to listen to me."

"What do you mean listen to you? You're raising your hands like a bloody idiot, and you're telling me to run when you say go? This is stupid!" But Kaiden was listening to her.

"I'll say ready, set, go." Kyra knew that meant 'go when I say ready'. Kyra knelt down by Dylan and slung one of his arms over her shoulder.

"This is stupid. This is really stupid." Kyra muttered as she got ready to run.

"Come on kids, stop overreacting. This is a Spark. It's dangerous." One defender said. Kyra ignored his and tried to look for an opening in the crowd, but she couldn't find one.

Kyra and Kaiden exchanged a look. Kaiden's blue eyes told the whole story. Kyra's eyes said yes. "READY!" Kyra took off as the Defenders were just starting to brace themselves.

"Hey wait a minute!" One shouted. Kyra dragged Dylan to a Defender holding a gun who looked stunned with her sudden outbreak. Kyra grabbed the gun out of the defender's hand and clicked the bullet into place. The Defender moved out of the way and Spark sirens started blaring again as a giant wind kicked up. There was banging sound of guns being fired.

Wind roared and nipped Kyra's bare legs. Her dark hair flew everywhere. The once scalding hot day was abruptly ended as dark clouds covered the sun. Kyra risked a glance over her shoulder wondering as to why no Defenders were pursuing her. She found her answer.

Kaiden hovered about 10 feet above ground. A tornado whipped around him, knocking any bullets fired at him off course. Rain began to come down and thee loud alarms wouldn't stop blasting out a warning. "CODE RED." The speakers blared. "THIS IS NOT A DRILL. RETURN TO YOUR HOMES IMMEDIATELY OR RISK BEING KILLED." Everyone rushed around trying to get home. Kyra moved slowly, dragging a thirteen year old boy she didn't know around was not helpful.

Rain poured down on top of Kyra, soaking her through and through. Gunshots filled the air. Kaiden was a big Spark! How had I not known? Kyra accused herself as she made her way through the rushing people and slippery streets. In about five minutes time Kyra reached the weeping willow at the top of the hill. Rain water just bounced off of its leaves. Kyra roughly shoved the green foliage aside with the gun she obtained and dragged Dylan inside. She threw him onto the ground and collapsed next to him.

This was all just too much for Kyra. She lay on the grass taking deep breaths. "You don't look like much." A voice said. Kyra jumped awake and looked at a guy in the willow. He was cocking his head at Kyra curiously.

"Who are you?" The boy rolled his eyes. He was wearing a black t-shirt and black jeans.

"I'm known as lots of things. My favorite nickname was," He lowered himself out of the tree and Kyra could get a good look at him. White hair, pale skin, and icy blue eyes. "Jack Frost."

"Who?" Jack Frost smiled and took Kyra's hand and placed his hand on the willow's trunk. Kyra could hear Defenders outside of the willow. "Jack Frost please hurry! Get us out of here!" Kyra whined impatiently.

"Grab onto his hand." Jack ordered. Kyra did as she was told. Kyra heard the voices getting closer. "This is Daniel Bearings requesting permission in. I bring two others." The tree shuttered and opened up its trunk. Jack/Daniel stepped into it and motioned for Kyra to do the same. Kyra wasted no time dragging Dylan's body into the center of the tree. Jack tapped the tree and it closed in around them. Kyra was thrown into total darkness.

It was all just black, but then, Jack placed his hand on the trunk and whispered. "Take us home, Willow." The tree obeyed and in a flash of light Kyra felt herself being thrown every which way like she was ping pong ball. There was the crushing sensation that followed, like an elephant was sleeping on her, and then there was the spinning sensation, that one was by far the worst in Kyra's perspective.

And then it all stopped. It all just stopped. The tree opened up again and Kyra gasped. "Welcome," Said Jack Frost, "to Spark Haven."
