Prologue
There was a dark and eerie chill through the night. Tall, dark silhouettes stood in front of the stone fortress, accompanied with long rifles on their shoulders and shields. All you could hear was the whispers of the wind, telling secrets that only a group called the Cryptic Blood knew about. The Cryptic Blood wiped out all the humans that were left in the land of Vulcrane, their feelings of jealousy and rage that the humankind ruled their world, Salvaria. The only ones of humankind left were the royal family. Everyone knew to stay out of the wrath of the Cryptic Blood, because if you didn't.... there would be severe consequences.
A large group of creatures stood at the outer stone walls of the castle in a pitch black ditch. Centaurs, cyclops, elves, dwarves, etc. waited for the signal; the signal to go in, and raid the castle of the last human beings left on Vulcrane. Or so they believed. Hearing a horn bellowing through the night, interrupting the silence, the guards inside stood alert and ready, as they heard the sound of metal scraping on metal, thuds, and screaming and yelling, outside the large wooden castle doors.
Silence. The guards could feel their hearts throbbing in their ears, as they heard that same eerie silence again. Their rifles pointed at the door, prepared for when they would burst open, and it seemed like time slowed down when they did.
Before the guards knew it, the Cryptic Blood came pouring into the castle. The majority stayed on the main floor, distracting them and trying to fight them off, while the rest separated in two groups, and went on both sides of the two double sided staircases to protect the Royal family that were now awake from the chaos downstairs.
Edgar their butler, and William their personal guard were already at their side, grabbing items such as clothing and a few extras they managed to grab before leaving. William had found the King slouched over in his conference room already gone. He wanted to make sure to get the Queen and the twins, Henry and Mary, out before it was too late for them too. Getting on a carriage that was being prepared for that morning to go on a trip, the snap of the reins from the horse's bridle was the last thing the guards heard before they disappeared into the night. The twins were soon fast asleep in their mother's arms, not really aware of the things that had happened. The Queen on the other hand couldn't sleep as they rode to Salvaria, a village far from the castle. Her green orbs looked out the large window; seeing it was now raining, and storm clouds were rolling in. 'Fitting weather.' She thought as a waterfall of tears fell from her cheeks and she mourned silently, knowing one thing.
The prophecy had begun.

FantasyThis is a potential novel I plan on writing. But I'm only thinking of posting a few chapters and the Prologue to see everyone's reaction to it. Please comment anything that might be helpful. Constructive criticism only! Thanks!
