RINGGG!

The sound of Louises alarm flooded her room, causing her to wake up with a groan.

She sat up, her hair tangled and disarranged. Grabbing the sides of her forehead in pain, she slammed her hand onto her phone.

'2 more weeks until summer.'

Louise took a sigh and groggily got out of her loft bed.

She made her way to her dresser, grabbing whatever was still clean and putting it on. She wore a plain, olive-green shirt with a striped long-sleeve underneath, and her pants were black and ripped.

She finished off her outfit with her bright pink bunny ears, the ones that she had always wore since she was in preschool. Grabbing her backpack, she made her way out of her room and into the kitchen.

Holding a plate of eggs and hash browns in her hand, Linda made her way to her youngest daughter and gave her a motherly peck on the forehead.

"Good morning, sleepy head! I almost thought you weren't gonna make it out of bed this morning!" Linda greeted, laughing at her own joke.

Louise smirked a bit and sat down, her mom placing her plate in front of her. "Good morning to you too, mom." She said, already shoving a piece of scrambled egg onto her mouth.

A few minutes later, her dad walked into the scene.

"What are you doing up so late? It's almost 8 in the morning!" Louise joked, before her eyes widened as she checked her phone.

'OH CRAP ITS ALMOST 8 IN THE MORNING!'

Realizing this, she scarfed down her breakfast and gave a goodbye to the rest of her family, rushing out the door with her backpack.

"Well, at least we know she isn't late for once." Bob said, pouring himself a cup of coffee.

——

Louise finally made her way to the steps of Wagstaff, barely making it at 7:58.

She burst through the school doors rushing over to her locker and barely bumping into her two siblings.

Quickly grabbing her things and making her way to her first class, she put up her index finger at Gene and Tina, who were trying to at least stir up some small talk.

Louise sped walked her way to class barely making it a minute short. She rushed over to her seat, successfully going unnoticed by her teacher.

"Oh, hi Louise."

Louise heard a familiar voice next to her. She turned her head to see Rudy sitting there, his regular-sized face cause her to light up a bit. "Oh, hey Rudy."

Rudy took a puff of his inhaler and spoke up again. "Listen, after class can I tell you something? I may or may not need your help with it later..."

Louise raised an eyebrow. She lingered his question for a second and answered. "Um, sure? But why do you have to tell me lat-"

She was cutoff by the school bell ring and the chatter of students in the hall. Louise and Rudy grabbed their backpacks and left the classroom, walking side by side.

They both walked over to their lockers, which were coincidentally next to each other, and fumbled with the locks.

"So, what did you want to tell me?"

Rudys face lit up a bit. "Well, I was wondering if you could help me out with..."

He trailed off for a second, but spoke back up.

"A date?"

Louise's eyes widened. She snickered a bit. "That's a little forward, isn't it?" She laughed. Rudy punched her shoulder weakly.

"It's not funny, Lou!" He shouted, his face red with embarrassment. Louise finally calmed down, removing her hand from her face.

"Alright, alright." She muttered, her smile still noticeably wide. "So, who's the lucky lady?" She asked, leaning on her locker.

Although she wouldn't admit it, she felt something when she was around Rudy. The way that he would laugh or take those little puffs of his inhaler whenever he was stressed made her feel...

Warm.

She denies the fact that she was in love, but sometimes she knew.

And it was sick.

"Well, I can't say anything, but all I can tell you is that she smells...really nice." Rudy said, drifting off as he finished his sentence.

He looked over to Chloe.

Chloe Barbash.

Louise looked in his direction and felt her stomach drop.

'Chloe?'

'Chloe Barbash.'

'Hasn't he learned anything?!'

Louise zoned out, muttering to herself in anger and rubbed her bunny ears as she looked at her.

"Louise?"

"Helloooo, earth to Lou?"

Louise jumped when she felt a hand on her shoulder, but settled down when she say Rudy's worried face looking right at hers.

"You zoned out, are you okay?" Rudy asked, his voice warmer than the summer sun that shone outside of Wagstaff.

Louise quickly gained her composure back together. "Yeah. Yeah I'm fine." She said, a slight lump in her throat.

Rudy's face became less tense. "So, about that date? Do you?"

Louise took a sigh and conjured up a weak smile. "Yeah, sure Rudy." She answered.

Jesus.
