I was ecstatic; ecstatic, I tell you!! It's been forever since I've talked to Brandon. Yep, a little drama for the show we were put on. I hate it. There are cameras everywhere, and I can't get the privacy I so deeply need.
Anyways, Brandon called me and told me that he and Nikki broke up, so I guess Chloe was right: they really were done. But then he said that Nikki was moving out of his house after today. It's sad, but that's not all. He's gonna try to convince her to stay!! OMG! I might just burst; that's so romantic!! He bought her an expensive necklace and everything. Today. Today is the day he said he'd ask... And he asked for my distant support. SQUEAL!!! (distant support~support from a distance) He wanted me to keep my distance to try to look as confident in himself as possible. It's nothing personal, I swear!!
They were in the front of the school when it all started happening. Nikki was eating a sandwich while Brandon was saying God knows what. Then she looked up to meet his eyes, asking him a question. He responded and closed her eyes, then held out her hands. OMG, OMG, OMG!!! He was doing it. She's gonna fall in love with him, and the camera crew was gonna get it all on film.
She opened her eyes, but she didn't look happy. Nikki's eyebrows drew together, and she had tears in her eyes. By then I was close enough to be out of ear shot.
"Are you insane!!? Don't you need the money you just wasted?" Nikki shot. What!!? Does she not understand the kindness that he's showing her right now?
"Nikki, I--"
"You are incredibly stupid, Brandon! Why in the world would you do that?" She was pooring tears. I couldn't tell whether or not she was mad or guilty. "You need this money, Brandon. Why in the world would you use it on me?"
I couldn't take this anymore. Someone needed to knock the mood swings out of her because this-- This was getting ridiculous. "Are you kidding me?" I asked, coming from out of my hiding spot behind a tree. "You're incredibly stupid, Maxwell. Brandon said he loves you like how many times? And this is your response towards him? C'mon!! I know you're better than that."
She was silent and she sniffled. Poor girl; she really needed a friend or two. I'll have to talk to Chloe.
"Accept the necklace and kiss him already. We all know you want to. And for crying out loud, don't do things you know you'll regret. Moving in with MacKenzie? Please!! Even if you guys did make up, you'd be miserable without Brandon." She knew I was right. Heck, I usually always am. Everyone's used to it, but Nikki glared at me. I looked at her the same way. It was like we were having a telepathic conversation:
Don't look at me like that, you know I'm right, I think.
I know that. I just don't want to admit it, she thinks.
Admit it, you can't hide anything.
"Fine," she finally said aloud. Brandon beat me to her with a hug that should've came from me. Sure, I was a little disappointed at first, but I was happier than ever now that the perfect two were back together again. The best part is that I think Nikki and are cool now. She mouthed a Thank you to me while hugging Brandon.
Eat that, camera crew!!
