Lullaby - Taegyu Oneshot

"Aaah! No! Not me! Help! Please !!"

"Babe! Are you okay?" asked Beomgyu as he suddenly woke up at the cries of his lover.

"Aaa! No! Please don't!"

Beomgyu started shaking a little the poor boy. "Taehyun. I'm here. Can you hear me? Wake up!"

"No- nngn- NO!!" screamed the boy as he sat up eyes wide open and tears streaming down his cheeks.

"Baby ?"

As a response, the shorter boy snuggled onto Beomgyu's chest trying to calm his heartbeat, images of his nightmare looping through his head. A small and frail "Beomgyu" was all he could say.

"You had a nightmare ?" asked the black haired boy, slowly stroking the smooth blonde hair of his boyfriend. Taehyun nodded. "Tell me about it."

"I don't want to."

"Is it the same as usual ?"

"Yes" said the blond in a nearly inaudible voice.

Beomgyu answered nothing, kissing his boyfriend's forehead.

Since the beginning of their relationship Taehyun has always had nightmares. Especially one where he was lost in the middle of darkness shouting for help as it invaded him.

At first, he was to ashamed to talk about it and would stay awake for hours in the dark facing his demons. He would wake up the next morning with bag under his eyes and be especially clingy to Beomgyu. The latter had noticed this last points and one night, where he wasn't sleeping, he heard Taehyun. That's when every pieces clicked together. So one day, after he had made cupcakes for the two of them wich his boyfriends love, he asked why he had hidden this to him and they talked. The reason behind his nightmares was far beyond what Beomgyu could have ever imagined.

Taehyun explained that when he was little , about four or five years old, his parents died in a car crash while their were going on holidays together, leaving him as the only survivor. He was then placed in an orphanage for about a year because no member of his family was alive. Everybody had died. Beomgyu even remembered hearing Taehyun say that his family was cursed.

Despite what Beomgyu could have imagined, the orphanage was not a very hard time for him. The owners were very kind and it's even there that he met his best friend for life and they still are !

But the curse transformed his life into hell on earth. Ever since he was adopted in his new family, he had been a slave at their service. Taehyun wasn't very talkative about his time in the family but he still explained the reason behind his fear of the dark : when he had down something wrong, he would be locked up in a room with no light as long as his masters wanted to. Once, he was even locked up for two days !

Fortunately, when he reached 15 years old he managed to speak out to one of his teacher who guided him to a professional who helped him find a new family. That's how he met Beomgyu as he was a friend of the family. But that's another story...

Beomgyu was here thinking about all this, trying to calm down his trembling boyfriend in his arms. Suddenly an idea popped up in his head.

"Honey, would you mind if I sang a lullaby ?"

Taehyun lifted his head up "A lullaby? For what ?"

"Yes a lullaby ! I wrote it myself and it could maybe help you sleep." he sweetly said.

After thinking a little bit the blonde boy replied "Why not"

At those words Beomgyu quickly got up and left the room. He came back five minutes later with a few candles, his notebook and his guitar. After lighting up the candles, he sat down on the bed and once Taehyun was nicely settled, he started playing...

The last chord flotted in the air for a while before fading and disappearing in a soft kiss. "Thank you" said Taehyun on Beomgyu's lips. "I love you"

"I love you too and will always be here with you my little squirrel" smiled Beomgyu holding his little boyfriend tight.

A slight blush appeared on Taehyun cheeks while he settled down, ready to go to dreamland. After having blown the candles out, Beomgyu layed down and took his boyfriend in a sweet embrace while they drifted to sleep.

"Sleep baby sleep, I'm here"

Hello !!

I hope you like my seconde one shot in english with was quite quickly written at 2 am 😅 after listening to Leonard Cohen's song Lullaby with I strongly recommend! For the ones who were a bit troubled by the lines saying "taking in tongues" here's what I found on Genius :

" The biblical phrase "talking in tongues" is used in Acts 2:4:

"And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in tongues".

It means to talk in different languages which were unknown to the speaker before. In the context of Cohen's songs it means that the wind in the trees can talk to people now or animals or other plants but later the mouse and the cat resp. the wind and the tree both speak in tongues and thus can't understand each other. "
