RIGGAN

You make it look like it's magic

Oh yeah,

Cause I see nobody, nobody but you, you, you

I'm never confused (hey, hey)

But I'm so used to being used...

I put the cap back on my eyeliner and placed it on the sink. Running while trying not to blink (so my lashes could dry of course) was a better idea in my head than when I actually did it. But, oh well. A little dry eye never hurt anybody. Earned it by The Weeknd was playing, which could only mean one thing-bae was calling.

So I love when you call unexpected

Cause I hate when the moment's neglected

So I'ma care for you, you, you

I'ma care for you, you, you, you

Yeah...

When I got to my room I picked up my phone and slid my thumb over the bottom, "Hello?"

"What's up baby?" Ja Khell's deep husky voice was like music to my ears.

"Nothing much, about to head to work in a little bit." I smiled, walking back into my bathroom to finish getting ready. I had a part time job at Olive Garden as a hostess. Believe me, this wasn't my chosen career path. But for now it helped out with putting a little extra cash in my hands while I was finishing up school. Did I mention I was about to have a masters degree? Yep. A masters in Media Management & Analytics to be specific. And I'm only 22. Not bad if I do say so myself. After graduation, I planned on having a nice cushy job in a real office making some real dough. All I had to do was wait. Hell, I was counting down the weeks until my struggle was over.

"Word? What time do you get off?" Ja Khell asked.

"Probably around 11:00. I'm closing tonight."

"Hmm."

"Why, what's up baby?"

Ja Khell chuckled a little, "You feel like coming over when you get off? The boys and I are having a little kick back at the house. Nothing major, just a few cool people and some drinks. I want my baby to be there."

I smiled. I guess it's been a while since I allowed myself to turn up a little bit. Even though I knew I would be tired with feet swollen when I got off work, it seemed like fun. Plus, Cullen and Rashad both had girlfriends, so I didn't have to worry about too many hoes showing up either, "Yeah babe I'll come. But I'll probably go home and shower first before I head your way. I'll be there around midnight...maybe a little after."

"Alright babe," Ja Khell said. He sounded happy, "I'll see you later. Have a good day at work. Make that bread big head."

"Bye Ja Khell!" I said trying to sound irritated. He knew I wasn't though. I hung up to the sound of him laughing. My man is goofy, and I like that about him. I smiled to myself. Now I actually had something to look forward to when I left work.

It only took me a few more minutes to put my hair into a bun and finish my makeup. I grabbed my keys and purse and headed out. On my way down the stairs my phone began vibrating in my hand. Trying to make sure I didn't drop all my stuff, I slid my thumb over the bottom without looking at it.

"Hello?"

"What's up baby girl?"

I froze.

I knew that voice. But I had to be trippin. It couldn't be who I thought it was.
