"What's up? You've been dead for, like, weeks. You're usually never late to work too. You're also very quiet at the dorm," your best friend, Jihyo, asked you after seeing you so tired.
It's been really harsh since... that day. Sighing, you tell her what's up.
She apologizes, hugging you.
"It's fine, Jihyo, it isn't your fault. Thanks, though," you reply, hugging her back.
You lean on the counter and look around the cafe. It didn't seem to be a busy day. After a while, a tall, well built man with soft, brown hair walks into the cafe and waves to a table with two people who seemed to be his friends.
He walks over to you seeing that you have no customers.
"Can I get you anything, sir?"
"An iced americano to go, please," he replied. He had a deep and husky voice.
"Alright... name?"
"Seungcheol."
After the payment, he walked to the table he waved to earlier.
You've made iced americanos many times, so boredom takes over you and you decide to eavesdrop on your customer's, Seungcheol's, conversation with his friends.
"Yah, Coups-Ah, you've been depressed for so long, what has happened to you?" said one who had a small and angelic voice. Seungcheol, or Coups-ah, stayed quiet.
"You don't have to tell us anything, but we're always willing to listen, Seungcheol," said the other friend who had a gentle and reassuring voice. Seungcheol sighed. He was trying to find words to explain what was going through his head.
"It's just... annoying how I fell for the idea that love actually exists. With her. People mistake so many things for love, is love even a thing anymore? It's so dumb, and what do you get out of it? Heartbreaks, emotional breakdowns, whatnot. Absolutely useless."
Wow, you thought. This man had the same idea on 'love' as you.
Instead of calling his name when you finish the americano, you grab a paper and a pen and write:
Hey, I kinda overheard your conversation. I get you. Like, a lot. I don't get why the world is so fixated on 'love,' or whatever that is. Good thing is you left her.
You handed it to him and walked away along with the americano. He unfolded the paper, blocking his nosy friend (the angelic sounding one, who had blonde hair from what you saw) from being... nosy. He finished reading the note and it left him with a small smile.
"Hey, ma'am?"
Seungcheol walked up in front of you and motioned a small wave with the note in between his fingers.
"Thanks for the note, it's nice to know someone has the same mindset as me."
You smile and reply, "I was glad to find out you thought the same as me too. Love this, love that... I'm sick of it."
"Right?"
You guys had an almost 20 minute conversation on just ranting about 'love.' Seungcheol's friends started calling him.
"Oh, right, I've got to go, it was nice meeting you..."
"Y/N"
"...Y/N"
He waved. You waved back.
Both of you had a comforting feeling inside of finding someone you can relate to extremely.
It left both of you less stressed for the rest of your day.
