me and leah decided to drive up to st george's park since it would only take around 2 hours. when we arrived it was midday and only a few other girls were there. i spotted keira and lucy and made my way over to them, giving them both a big hug. we entered and were greeted by sarina who told us to go into the meeting room while we wait for the others, so we did.

georgia wasn't here yet, but i didn't expect her to be. she always took forever to leave manchester. when we got into the meeting room we were greeted by millie, rachel, beth and a few others. i took the empty seat next to beth.

"so how come you didn't travel with georgia?" she asked quietly, trying to keep the conversation as private as possible.

"she was with olly all week so i just went down to london and stayed with leah and jords" i replied. beth audibly scoffed, making me pull my head away and look at her. "what?"

"you didn't stay with me? how rude" she exclaimed with a small smile.

"sorry, b" i started, "i just didn't want to listen to you and dvd shake the bed all night"

beth's mouth hung open and she gave me a small smack on the head. soon enough, sarina entered the room, followed closely by a few more city girls, including georgia. as soon as i saw her my smile faded, which didn't go unnoticed by beth. "you okay, lauren?" she asked softly, to which i nodded in return, resting my head on her shoulder. she put her arm around my shoulder protectively, pulling me closer to her. georgia had taken the seat opposite me and beth, her eyes glued to the two of us. i looked up at her, forcing a smile that she returned.

"so girls, first of all, congratulations on making the squad for the euros! the squad will be announced to the media tomorrow, so please try to keep it under wraps for tonight. our opening game is on the 6th of July, meaning it's only a couple of weeks away. the plan is to keep you in camp until then. we will train daily, and we have one more friendly organised for you against switzerland, which is two days away. for now, i'm going to read out the room arrangements and let you guys catch up. we'll have a late training session today at 7pm." 

i forgot about rooming. it was always georgia and i, but i really hoped this time it wouldn't be. sarina began reading out the names, only getting to me at the very end.

"leah and keira, and finally georgia and lauren burke" she finished with a smile.

i didn't go straight up to mine and georgia's room, not feeling ready to have an awkward conversation with her. instead i went with keira and leah to their room, where the three of us sat on kei's bed.

"how are you feeling lee?" keira asked her after a short while. the defender raised her head to look at her, raising an eyebrow.

"what do you mean?"

"how are you feeling about jords not being here?" she continued, a flash of hurt appearing in leah's eyes but disappearing seconds after. she shuffled on the bed.

"it doesn't feel nice, she deserves to be here. i just hate that she's so unlucky with injuries. it's gonna be hard without her this summer, it was supposed to be our year" leah spoke softly, a small frown playing on her lips. i leaned over, wrapping her up in a hug which keira soon joined. 

"we're here for you, lee" i whispered, pressing my lips to her forehead. she offered a smile in return.

a knock at the door caused us to break apart, keira offering to answer it. she opened the door to reveal georgia and lucy. i locked eyes with georgia immediately and she gave me a big smile. she ran past keira and threw her arms around me. keira scoffed, "yeah georgia, come in if you want" she stated sarcastically earning a laugh from lucy and leah.
