isa wakes up to the dawn light shining through her curtains, flickering in the wind. she can hear the odd bird chirping with a beautiful song that she has no care for - her mind is only on the task at hand; preparing for school. the girl grabs some clothes, working quickly as she roughly tucks in a brightly-coloured checked button-up shirt into a pair of fading jeans with the bottoms turned up to give her a more 'boy-ish' appearance. according to half the school population, she was already basically the other gender, anyway. isabella is somewhat glad about this, because if being a girl means being all the stuck-up, pink princesses that are in her class, she's happy to be a tomboy and stay the hell away from them.

she dashes downstairs, tugging on a beige coat as she quickly put a brush through her wild tangle of hair, fluffing it up with her hands as she fixed the bangs. multitasking is truly her thing! isa hears a calming voice from the kitchen, and she huffs, knowing who it is.

"isabella? don't tell me you're going to school without breakfast!" ; steve harrington calls out, back turned to his little sister as he's facing the stove, cloth over his shoulder.

"i'll live. just gimme a slice of toast or something, i don't know," ; isa replies, grabbing her backpack from the kitchen table with steve advances towards her with a plate of toast generously slathered in strawberry jam.

steve shoves the plate towards her, and raises his eyebrow, gaze shifting towards the chair, and then the clock. she still has time! isa gives up her fight to be early, and resigns to sitting at the table, eating the breakfast her big brother had kindly made for her, backpack still slung over her shoulder while steve takes the cloth off of his to begin cleaning the counter.

"soooo, how are you and nancy doing?" ; isa asks, between mouthfuls of strawberry toast.

steve hesitates for a moment, before smiling brightly, beginning to look down at his cup of coffee.

"she's good. i- i mean, she's great, she's amazing. this time, i think it might actually work out."

isa is pleased. when nancy and steve broke up the first time, her big brother came home crying his eyes out, and seriously did not leave his room for, like, a week, no matter how much she begged for him to do so. now that they're back together again, steve seems happier than ever, and often takes breaks from the real world to zone out and daydream - about nance, isa assumes. besides, she enjoys it when nancy comes round their house, because both harrington siblings clearly think she's one of the prettiest things to ever grace the earth, besides kittens and puppies and blue cotton candy skies, obviously. vomit.

the toast, by now, is just crumbs, and isa winks at her big brother before wiping her mouth, getting ready to leave.

"hey, isa? come back here?" ; steve calls, and isa makes an annoyed noise.

he grins.

"you missed a spot." ; the 'mom' informs her, wiping his thumb over the corner of her mouth, which still has a blob of jam stuck to it. ew, gross.
