a loud silence filled the [l.name] household, as its youngest family member finished the needed explanation.

". . . so that's what you do. how could have i not known when gossip travels around here. . ?" your mother murmured, finger on her chin as her other hand held a glass of water.

you simply munched on your food, shrugging on her confusion.

"may i ask what kind of. . . 'chores', do you do?" mother asked.

you thought for a bit, before explaining: "i just the the usual and normal ones. like cleaning their house, doing an errand. . ." and helping on catching thieves and paying that debt collector, you chortled, leaving the rest of your thoughts unsaid. in your mind, you thank your ancestors profusely for not giving the rest of your family sensitive hearing.

just thinking about what they will do when they find out made you shiver. not even that made-up story about man-eating demons can scare you as much as an angry isa and mama do.

"seeing as you earn money, little sibling, i have a question," isabella started as she leaned towards you, hands crossed with each other. "do you do. . . 'other things', with it? say, like paying stuff?" she asked, head tilting to the side.

you choked at her sudden question, food becoming stuck on your throat.

"ack—! water, water!" you managed to get out after a few seconds, and your mother swiftly gave you her glass.

you gulped down the transparent liquid, with it helping the food stuck go down to your organ that is also called: the stomach.

due to you drinking water in a hasty way, the drinkable h2o dribbled at the side of your mouth; thus making quite a mess on your rumpled clothes.

"[name]," your mother tutted scoldingly, manifesting a handkerchief out of nowhere and wiping the wet spots of your clothes.

isabella only giggled at the scene, a fond look present in her face.

light noises of happiness filled the air, until a heavy cough interrupted it.

the sound caught the attention of both young and old [l.name] members, as they quickly bounded towards the heaving eldest sister.

"isa!" you cried out as you went behind her to support her light body. your hold on her was just right; not too tight, not too loose.

mother, meanwhile, stood up gracefully; hands opening drawers with finesse, as though she was used to it. three emotion-filled eyes watched her every move, one filled with worry, and one filled with regret.
