8: Reaching out to you

It's been months since that train accident and Rengoku recovered well but only thing that was bothering him. Was Y/n okay? Is she still with her husband?

Is she happy now?

He never got a chance to see her again. During that time he went to several missions. If only she didn't married him, she could've become a strong demon slayer and be able to work with me.

One day as kagaya ubuyashiki assign missions to Hashiras, Rengoku was sent to Yaga mansion. He thought it was weird because almost everyone who lived there was a demon slayer themselves. But he was still curious do he went there.

When he reached there he saw, Y/n's both brother injured badly.

"What happened to both of you!?" Rengoku went to their aid.

"It's... Twelve Kizuki..." Rengoku's eyes widen. He sent them to the city doctor as he prepared himself for fight.

When he entered inside he heard a baby cry. He went to check it out, there a baby cried on floor of one of the rooms... "He looks like a new born... Who's child is this?"

He picked the baby up. He once the baby was in his arm he stopped crying. He thought he should take the baby out first but when he reached the entrance, the door was missing and there was only a wall.

He tied baby up around himself so he could take the baby out later and so the baby don't get hurt. He kept moving forward in search of the demon.

He heard a scream from the back of the mansion, he ran towards it being careful so the baby won't fell.

When he reached there he saw Y/n tied up and a demon holding up sword near her neck. Rengoku's eyes grew wide. She looked exhausted. Her eyes were closing. "Y/n!" He leaped forward and attack the demon to make him stay away from her. She had tears in her eyes, she looked at the baby. "Zen... " Rengoku gave the child to her without thinking anything he and demon had immense fight as he told Y/n to find a safe place. It was hard for her but she did.

She didn't know what was going on but she tried hard keep her baby safe. After a while the noises stopped. She decided to go check but she stopped herself, waiting for rengoku gave her a signal.

"Y/n!!" She finally heard his voice which made her let out a sigh of relief, "where are you!?"

"I'm here" she was hiding in a closet. Rengoku came running to her and opened the closest for her. She came out while holding the baby. She hugged him, "thanks for saving me and my baby"

Rengoku's heart sank, "it's yours??"

"Yes" she smiled at him. As rengoku tries to get away from her the baby held his hair. They both were surprised. He smiled down at him, "aren't you little rascal" he kissed the baby as the child let his hair go.

"How did you ended the fight so fast?" She asked.

"Oh, that? The demon was strong I have to admit but he wasn't a twelve Kizuki. It was a fake" He replied.

"That explains it".

"What's his name? "

"Zen" she smiled down.

"Did you named him or your husband?"

"Me"

"How's your in-laws?" He looked the other way as they both made their way out.

"My husband and in-laws' died in that train accident. I was the only one who survived that day. Later I found out I was pregnant... So... I came back to live with my brothers"

He was shocked to hear everything but she smiled at him. "I'm doing great till now with my brothers"

They both chatted as he escorted her out of the mansion to the doctor's for check up. Later he found out that her father died with heart attack last year. Every hurdle and pain was out of her life. The only thing which was missing was him.

"Rengoku... How about a tea at my place tomorrow? As a thank you" She offered him.

"Only if you call me Kyojuro" he smiled at her.

"So are you coming or not, Kyojuro?"

"I'm definitely coming!" She laughed at his optimistic self. "I'll be waiting for you"

I'll forever be waiting for you.
