Chapter One

"Addi?

"Addi!"

"Adelaide?!" Nancy calls repeatedly.

"Hmm, sorry what were you saying Nance?" she questions.

"You ok Addi, you seemed lost in your little world I was asking you about James!" Nancy questioned in a worried tone.

"Yeah, just thinking". she smiles, sitting up in Nancy's bed to face her. "What about him?"

"You're going to his party this Saturday right?" Nancy asks.

"Obviously, I'm his girlfriend, how can I not?" She responds as if it's obvious.

"Okay, just checking, now we can go together. Come here on Saturday and we can-"

"NANCY!" They hear a scream from downstairs. "NANCY!" The voice screams again followed by thudding footsteps up the stairs. Mike's head popped around the door. "I'm going to Els house" he rushes, just as he had been for the whole of summer.

"Okay, and you're telling me because?" She sasses to her brother.

"Because.. "he continued, rolling his eyes, "Mom and dad took Holly to the park so now it's up to you to tell them where I've gone when they come back." He smiles cheekily.

"But Mike-" Nancy starts, but Mike is rushing out before she can say anything.

Before leaving he spares a glance at Adelaide, "Hey Addi, bye Addie!"

"He is so whipped", Addi laughs, turning back to her friend as she hears the door slam shut downstairs.

"Trust me, I know. It's been like this all summer." She groans, falling back onto the bed. "I'm surprised Hopper hasn't kicked him out by now."

"Give it a few weeks", Addi laughs, "there's no way Hopper will put up with him smooching El 24/7 for much longer." Knowing Hopper, it wouldn't be a surprise to either of the girls if he tried to sabotage their relationship, his protectiveness of El clouding his rationality.

Nancy had to go to work so Addi left and contemplated what to do with the next few hours she had free until she had to get back home to make dinner for her and Steve. She decided to go to the mall and visit Steve.

"Hiya there ladies, what can I get you?" Steve asks them, obviously flirting. The girls started giggling and smiling telling Steve what they wanted while Addi stood back rolling her eyes. After the girls left Addi started laughing at his failed attempt to flirt.

"Steve, you obviously need tips on how to get girls, you're terrible at it" she stated still laughing at him. She orders vanilla ice cream and then sits on the counter in the kitchen just as Robin walks back in from her break.

"I'm sorry um, but you're not supposed to be in here, it's staff only!" Robin says awkwardly, not wanting to seem rude towards the pretty girl who captured her eyes.

"Oh sorry, Steve told me I could be back here" Addi states, smiling at the girl in front of her. Just as Steve walks in to grab some more sprinkles.

"I see you have met the less-flattering twin, Rob" Steve brags, leaning against the counter in an awkward attempt at looking attractive.

"Sorry, I think you mean superior, prettier, and older twin, it's nice to meet you, Robin," she says laughing at Steve knowing she has successfully annoyed him.

Steve rolls his eyes and lightly shoves Addi as Robin says "It's nice to meet you too...." hesitating as she doesn't know her name.

"It's Adelaide but you can call me Addi, everyone does," she tells Robin, smiling profoundly at the girl.
