Chapter 8: Training

~Y/N's POV~

I woke up earlier than the other girls and got ready. The bell was supposed to wake all cadets up, but I was used to waking up extremely early. My dad always woke me up around 4-5 am so we can start our training. I tied my hair into a ponytail and put on the boots I had brought. I made my way outside. The sunrise was beautiful; I love sunrises ever since I was a little girl. You see I grew up in the Underground City. The people there didn't see the sun at all. There was always bunch of people suffering from deficiencies caused by the lack of sunlight. My dad was a thief there, before Uncle Erwin came and gave him an opportunity to live on the 'Over world.' I remember being there in the underground city; I was young, yes, but I remember some of it. The day we finally managed to live in the 'over world' I got to see the sunrise for the very first time. For me it signifies new life and new possibilities that can come in one's life. That's why I am so fond of sunrises. I sat on the roof of the cabin as I looked over to the horizon.

~Mikasa's POV~

Where's Y/N? I heard her exit the cabin but where could this girl possibly go at this hour?! It's so damn early. I whispered to myself. I got ready to start the day by tying my hair up in a messy bun. I put on my uniform and boots. Then I went outside to meet up with Y/N. "It's pretty up here, isn't it?" I said to Y/N. I saw her flinch and look over where I was. "Mikasa, you scared me! Uh careful, I don't want my new friend falling off the roof." She said as she held her hand out to me. "Pfft- new friend? Didn't we meet each other like a few years back?" I said jokingly. "Wait- So since back then you considered me a friend?" I saw her gasp. "I mean yeah. You're chill and I had heard stories about you. Levi's daughter." I said to her. "Shit. Please don't tell anyone who my dad is. Ok Mikasa? This could be a secret. OUR SECRET. The last thing I want is all the cadets knowing who my father is, ok?" She said to me with a worried look. Maybe I shouldn't have said that but either way I nodded to her.

~Normal POV~

As the sun began to rise the bells rang. It was time for their first day of training. Eren who was in the distance looked so hyped. While Armin looked nervous; he wasn't the type of person to fight or do any sports. "First day of training! What do you think we'll do?!" Said the hyped boy. "Hopefully nothing sports related. You know I'm not good at running." The blonde boy added. "But either way we should give it our best right, Eren?" "Yeah, well said Armin." Replied Eren.

All cadets made their way to get some food from the pantry. They quickly ate bread and headed over to the training grounds. It was their first day. Nobody wanted to get yelled by Mr. Baldy.

~Y/N's POV~

I am so excited to see how training will be. I hope we do combat or use the ODM gear! I thought to myself as all the girls from the cabin went to the training grounds. Commander Shadis was already there ready to scold cadets who were late. "This is the first day of training. People who fail or dislike this kind of training will be sent directly home! That's if you have one. Now the first activity is close combat; objective is to pin down your opponent. The last 2 winners will face each other in a 1v1. I will have Kirstein vs Jaeger. Leonhart vs Springer. Ackerman (Mikasa) vs Braus. Finally, Ackerman number 2 vs Braun. Now let the combat training begin." He said. Jean got into a fighting position. Meanwhile Eren looked as if he was ready to beat the shit out of Horse face.

~Eren's POV~

"Don't take this personally Horse face." I said with a smirk. "You will regret this Jaeger!" He yelled to me. He charged towards me as I dodged it and kicked his stomach causing him to collapse. I grabbed his head and slammed it on my knee then pinned him down. Man, he really is weak. Or I'm too good! Haha I thought. "Enough Jaeger! You win this round" Keith Shadis said. I got off Jean and held my hand out. "You ruined my beautiful face Jeager!" "Oh really? To me it looks the same." I said as let out a small chuckle and walked away.

~Annie's POV~

"Don't worry Annie. I'll go easy on you. I don't wanna hurt you cause you're a girl." He said. That simple sentence he said irritated me. "Let's just get this over with." I said with an annoyed tone. He charged at me, but I tripped him. He fell to the ground, and I just sat on his back. "Done." I simply said and got off him. "That was fast. Well done Annie Leonhart." Commander said. Everyone started laughing at Connie. "You underestimated me. Don't ever do that again." I said to Connie and went back to the other cadets. "Haha. You ok bald eagle?" Y/N said as she picked him up. "Don't call me that! AND WHAT'S UP WITH YOU AND GIVING PEOPLE NICKNAMES?" I heard Connie yell at her.

~Mikasa's POV~

Its my turn now. I got into position and looked at Sasha. "Hey, if you win, I get to do anything you say! But if I win you need to give me your dinner for a day!" She said. What's up with these weird requests? "Sure." I replied. I charged at her, but she dodged my punches. She threw a kick, but I just held her leg and twisted it. With the other leg she had free she spined and kicked me on my ribs. However, it didn't faze me. I let go of her leg and tackled her to the ground. Eventually I pinned her, and won.

~Y/N's POV~

"Ready sweetie?" Reiner said to me. Ugh people are weird. "Whatever dumbass!" I yelled. Reiner came up to me and tried kicking my legs. I jumped back and dogged his attacks. Its my turn to land a hit now. He threw a punch, but I managed to grab a hold of his hand. I pulled it making him come closer to me and I simply kicked him on his stomach. He fell to the ground but quickly stood up. Oh? He might be a challenge. No matter, I can still beat him. I ran towards him and jumped up high. I wrapped my legs on his neck and threw him to the ground. I stood up and placed my leg on his back as I grabbed both of his hands behind his back. "Y/N wins this round!" Commander declared. "You're good but not as good as me." I smiled at him and made my way over to Mikasa. "Don't hold back just cause we're friends." Mikasa said. "Not planning to Ackerman! You better do the same." I said to her. We both switched to our fighting positions. She came running up to me throwing a punch near my face. I dodged it swiftly. For the second swing I immediately ducked. Like I was near the ground I used my leg to sweep Mikasa's feet off the ground. *Thud* She fell. I tried to reach over to her so I can pin her down, but she had already gotten up. She tackled me and pinned me down. "Aw sorry Y/N. Guess I'm winning this round." I could see she was only focusing on my upper body. I used my legs and wrapped it around her waist. With my hands I grabbed onto her shirt and managed to switch positions with her. "And that concludes it! Winner of the close combat is no other than Y/N Ackerman!" Said Commander Shadis in a proud voice. I helped Mikasa up. "Did I hurt you? Was it too rough?" I asked her with a worried face. "Girl don't worry about me. I'm fine." She said. "But look who has eyes on you." She pointed towards Eren who looked more than surprised. I saw him sprint towards me and picked me up, twirling me around in the air. "You were awesome! No one has ever been able to beat Mikasa!!" He said. "Thanks, Eren. Y-you can let go now." I said awkwardly with a faint blush on my cheeks. "Right, sorry." He said covering his red face. "You did great!" Armin said high fiving me. This was how the first day of training went. Some cadets didn't do well, and some were home sick, so they had a carriage take them back.
